Sage

It was time. I sent a message to Sedna to infiltrate the new spies in the castle shortly after sending the Royal Wolf messenger to send the message to Mother. I hoped my strategy would work and that my mother wouldn't have time to write back telling us, "Sorry, I don't want to see your fucking face" and have us as our guests. I was clear in the message. I was on my way.

His parents and Logan yelled at Thomas and he finally agreed to come. I was beginning to think he was avoiding my sister.

I was right.

The whole ride was silent. Everyone was tense.

The moon was shining above us, silently wishing us luck for what we were about to do.

When we were a couple of minutes away from my parents' territory, we stopped to let Thomas and Nina blend into the darkness and break into the mansion with the help of my spies. Sedna and the spies wouldn't have been able to do it. It had to be my sister. I trusted her the most. I trusted Sedna too, but all the other spies weren't close to her as her team was on Earth dealing with their own research. She didn't fully trust them either. I wished Nina and Thomas good luck and we continued our way on our mounts. Luna with me and Hunter with Logan. Milah–my sister's– was an all- brown stead while Scout–Thomas' wolf– was gray with white legs.

When we arrived, guards were already circling us. Luna and Hunter growled a warning and bared their teeth. I smirked while Logan dismounted his wolf, making sure I stayed behind him.

"We requested an audience." His voice boomed in the dull night. The guards relaxed a bit, letting their chief pass through the circle. I noted that the captain was a new one. That meant whatever my past prisoner uttered to my mom, he didn't convince her to get his former place in the troops.

Hopefully, he wouldn't let me down in his spying.

"Of course you did. No one is stupid enough to come without being invited."

I snorted. I didn't think this would be fun. The new one looked at me, puzzled.

"Why are you laughing?", he asked.

I remained calm, my face not betraying my emotions, "None of your fucking business."

He recoiled.

Cute.

I tilted my head to the side and another laugh escaped me. Logan was on high alert.

I stopped laughing. "Let us pass." I was deadly serious. I wasn't asking. I was commanding. The soldier looked flustered. I thought my mom was better at choosing her chiefs.

"I can't let you pass."

My blood froze. This plan had to be executed to perfection so that we could all leave with our heads still attached to our shoulders. I didn't let my expression falter. Logan must have felt my distress and took a step closer to the soldier who took a step back at the glare that Logan was giving him and Logan shouted, "The Phoenix Princess wasn't asking. She is higher in rank than your queen. You will let her through."

"And who are you exactly? Her lawyer?"

This man needed some history classes. And to read the news. He was clueless.

Logan snapped. "Your worst fucking nightmare if you don't do as she says."

"You will let my fiancée pass or–" continued Logan but he was cut off.

"Your fiancée?"

That voice. The person I had hated my whole life, whose face I couldn't bear to see especially after all that I had learned. Mother. Drama she craved, drama she would get.
