Part 2: Verdant Wind
Guardian Moon
The Alliance Leader's Ambitions
"It feels like so long ago that we were just students here," Eliza said to Lysithea.
The two girls had reclaimed their old dorms since the Alliance set base at the monastery. Knights of Seiros and Alliance members alike were going about their business.
"So..." Lysithea smirked, "You and Claude?"
Eliza's cheeks reddened as Lysithea eyed her left hand. The blonde shook her head, "We're not quite there yet. As you can see we are in the middle of a war."
"Come on," Lysithea rolled her eyes, "It's been five years. I'm surprised that Claude hasn't already wed you."
"He tried to about one year into the war," Eliza admitted, "But I told him that the wait would be worth it."
"Professor's reappearance seems to have steeled everyone's resolve," Lysithea told Eliza.
"I recall the professor falling into the abyss in the attack from the Empire five years ago," Eliza grimly remarked, "I wonder how she survived."
"That is something we'll never know," Lysithea sighed, "Say, I'm going to go meet up with Hilda and Marianne. I'll meet you for dinner?"
"Sounds good," Eliza smiled, "It's great to see you again."
As Eliza walked through the monastery it was nice seeing familiar faces again from other houses.
"Eliza!" a voice called out to her.
Eliza turned her head to see Freya running over to her.
"Freya?" Eliza was stunned when the brunette hugged her, "Is everything alright?"
"Of course," She smiled, "I was just hoping to catch up. Five years really goes by fast."
"Naturally," Eliza smiled, "What has transpired for you since we parted ways?"
Freya frowned, "War... My father defected to the Empire leaving me no other choice but to slay him."
"I'm sorry to hear that," Eliza's blue eyes widened.
"He turned his back on the Kingdom," Freya's eyes darkened, "His treason is unforgivable. I'm the leader of my territory with help alongside House Gautier."
"House Gautier you say," Eliza wiggled an eyebrow as she spotted a redhead heading over to them.
Freya made a face as that aforementioned redhead wrapped an arm around her.
"Freya, even after five years you are still speaking my praises," Sylvain teased her.
Freya pushed him off her, "Eliza and I were just catching up."
"It is nice to see you alive and well, Sylvain," Eliza acknowledged to the heir.
"I could say the same to you," Sylvain nodded, "Though I am shocked to see no ring on your finger."
Eliza's face turned even redder, "Is that all everyone ever looks for nowadays?"
"Well, we all remember how idiotic Claude was back in our academy days," Freya reasoned, "He was always staking his claim over you even when he messed up."
"Don't remind me," Eliza laughed, "But in all honesty, it was nice having each other these past few years. Even when he is stressed from being leader, he always carves out some private time for the two of us."
"I would think being targets of so many enemies would lead to the both of you being watched very closely," Freya thought aloud.
"We always find ways of evading Claude's little guards," Eliza scratched the back of her head.
