Part 1: Silver Clouds

Garland Moon

Mutiny in the Mist

This month, the Golden Deer had been tasked with stopping Lord Lonato, a minor Lord of the Kingdom, who rallied troops against the church. Eliza had just finished training with Lysithea and they headed to the dining hall.

Raphael was already there and looking at the meals the kitchen staff were preparing when he waved a greeting, "Lysithea, Eliza. Here to grab a meal?"

Eliza nodded her head, "After training, it definitely feels good."

"I feel ya," Raphael agreed, "I got to keep eating if I want to stay strong."

He let out a hefty laugh as the three of them found a seat.

"Ignatz!" Raphael called out to the shorter boy with glasses, "We save you a seat!"

Ignatz sat down beside his friend, "Eliza, Lysithea, how have the both of you been?"

"We are doing okay," Lysithea answered, "Eliza and I had been practicing our skills. We're heading to town later today. Want us to grab you anything?"

"Hm," Raphael said in thought, "There is nothing that I can think of at this moment. Thanks for the offer. How about you Ignatz?"

Ignatz adjusted his glasses, "I cannot think of anything that comes to mind."

"Alright," Eliza smiled, "That's okay."

They finished their meals and headed to town. Villagers were going about their business when Eliza stopped at one of the shops. Lysithea caught up to her with a bag of sweets, "What is it?"

"Is this not neat?" Eliza picked up a compass.

"It is just a compass," Lysithea observed putting another treat in her mouth.

"Just a compass?" Eliza feigned a hurt tone, "It is not just a compass. It is a symbol of adventure, Lysithea, and a guide on the path of fate."

Eliza took the chance to look up at the sky, "Somewhere, they'll be true peace in Fódlan and the territories around it. I've seen it once before and would give anything to be able to see it again."

"What was it like growing up in Fódlan's throat," Lysithea asked.

The blonde placed the old compass back on the storefront before answering Lysithea's question.

"It is breathtaking," Eliza informed her, "Wildflowers and fresh mountain air. The best part of it are the people that pass through from lands beyond Fódlan. Each had their own different stories and traditions. They spoke of treasure and triumphs and what it took to be a true hero. Those stories inspired me ever since I was a child."

"That is quite interesting," Lysithea smiled, "Your view on life is so... Innocent."

Eliza widened her grin, "I like to try and be optimistic. We should probably head back to the monastery."

She glanced back at the stand where she found the compass and frowned when it was gone. Someone had already bought it, Eliza thought sadly, Perhaps it was for the best. She would have bought the compass herself, but the price was too great for her. Many things were too expensive and Eliza would only buy the necessities like food or clothes.

They returned to the monastery and Eliza dropped off her bag of sweets in her room. A gleam in her room caught her attention as she walked over. Her eyes were filled with shock as she picked up the note beside the very compass that she saw in the store.
