Part II: Verdant Wind

Verdant Rain Moon

Fódlan's New Dawn

The only thing Eliza could feel was defeat. Claude was injured and the King of Liberation seemed unstoppable. The air rushed passed her as the light was giving way to darkness. A fall of this magnitude was sure to end her life.

Tears poured from her face as she tried to inhale oxygen for her deprived lungs.

"ELIZA!" An echoed voice shouted to her.

Eliza's blue eyes widened seeing Freya on Helios racing to save her. The blonde didn't know when the fall would end and by extension her life. Still... She couldn't afford to die. Not without giving it her all. She stretched out her hand towards the brunette, "Freya!"

Freya desperately stretched her own hand. After everything Eliza had done for her and Sylvain, the Larkhern refused to let the blonde die. Time froze for everyone as they witnessed Nemesis throw her off the plateau. She was the closest and did not hesitate to fly after her. Hopefully she was quick enough.

To Eliza, Freya appeared like an angel of the battlefield. Her Pegasus' wings framed her body giving her wings. It almost put her at peace. Their hands grew even closer.

"Come on, Eliza," Freya pleaded, "Grab my hand!"

Eliza let out a strained breath and glanced down to see the ground coming fast. Just before she expected to hit the ground, her body was slingshot upward. She landed on the back of Helios with Freya letting out a relieved breath.

"Thank goodness, I got there in time," Freya caught her breath, "I was so scared I was too late."

"I was too..." Eliza confessed, "Thank you."

"Are you hurt from Nemesis' attack?" Freya asked her.

Eliza shook her head, "No more than expected."

She let out a cough and rubbed her sore throat, "He had a strong grip."

Her blue eyes refocused, "We have to get back to the battle. The Golden Deer need our help."

And Claude... Eliza thought to herself silently. The last time she saw him was when he took a nasty fall to the ground. Did he recover or did Nemesis go to finish him off.

"Hey," Freya assured her, "Claude's going to be alright. After knowing him all these years, I doubt he will let himself go out this easily."

Eliza let Freya's words put her mind at peace. As Helios broke through the darkness, Eliza was blinded by the light. The skies had cleared up significantly with sun pouring down on them. Helios landed and Eliza looked around the battlefield as Nemesis' soldiers disintegrated. It was as if the ancient magic that kept them together was fading out of existence.

Her blue eyes scanned around the plain at her friends. To her relief, they had come out alive albeit with some injuries. However, her blue eyes didn't see the green ones she was looking for. Her heart dropped slightly in fear. Where was Claude?

Her feet carried her forward through the disintegrating army. Byleth stood there with her husband. Claude paused speaking with Byleth and tears had fallen down his face. Eliza didn't think twice before sprinting into his arms. Their bodies fell to the ground with Eliza weeping tears of joy. She peppered his face with kisses as he held onto her.

"I thought I lost you," Claude held his wife closely, "I thought Nemesis killed you."

"I'm okay," Eliza reassured her husband, "More importantly, you're okay. I thought Nemesis had killed you."
