originally from dawn city, new jersey, ashton maxwell is the youngest son of billionaire playboy lincoln maxwell and his wife catherine.
ash was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, but it never quelled his thirst for more. throughout his teenage years, he became quite the kleptomaniac, and his father had to bail him out of dawn city jail several times for hot-wiring cars and stealing priceless artefacts from galas the family attended.
his entire life changed at age twenty-one when he was attending a party and was almost killed by odette keller, who recently became the host for the entity enchantress. the doctors said he shouldn't have made it, and by some miracle, ash survived—the only survivor from that party.
he made sure to change his tune after that. he tried not to steal as much anymore, and he became influenced by the events in dawn city as the enchantress began wreaking havoc through the city.
having been skilled in archery since he was a child, ash decided to take up a vigilante mantle and go toe-to-toe with the enchantress. again, he barely made it out with his life and returned home beaten and bloodied. his parents witnessed this and showed little concern for their son's wellbeing, giving him a choice: he could leave dawn city and they wouldn't tell the police that he was the one who went up against the enchantress, or they would take him to the police department himself.
ash, of course, chose the former.
he traded his life of luxury and moved to ardor city, but he was able to continue his antics as a vigilante with the rising criminal activity in the city. he befriended anthony scott, aka bluejay, and together, they tried to purge the town of its drug-trafficking problem.
