► And clearly, I don't see myself upon that list.

"Gavin, please just leave me alone," Clover cried as she tried to walk far away from her boyfriend. "I just need space."
Gavin grabbed Clover's shoulder harshly and turned her around to face him. He grabbed the white collar of her uniform— tugging her in. "You listen to me, Clover Hemmings, If you even so much as speak about leaving me, I'll ruin your fucking life."
Clover felt tears fall down her cheeks as she nodded quickly, trying to get her boyfriend's hand off her collar. "I–I want to be with you, Gavin, please let me go."
Gavin pushed her away from himself and let go of her collar. "I'll pick you up at nine."
"W–Why? I can't go, Gavin, I have things to do—"
Gavin only gave Clover a stern look and it shut her up. She felt tears fall down her cheeks as he shoved her backpack into her chest and walked away.
Clover's bottom lip quivered and she got into her car and set her bag down. Once she made sure she was alone, Clover broke down.
Clover Hemmings and Gavin Castillo had been together for over two years, and it was pure bliss for the first six months— until it wasn't. He abused her and treated her like she was purely an object he was messing with.
But Clover loved him.

When Clover got home, she rushed up the stairs and into her bedroom without stopping to say hi to her mother. She knew Gavin had left a bruise on her neck from tugging on her collar so tightly, and the last thing she wanted was for her family to see that.
"Clover?"
Clover looked at her door quickly and swallowed the lump in her throat, "In here, mom."
"Are you alright? You rushed past me, honey, what's wrong?" Liz asked, genuinely concerned for her daughter.
"I, um," Clover ran her hand through her hair, "I don't feel good, mom, I think I'm going to nap."
Liz nodded warily. "Okay sweetheart, I love you."
"Love you too, mom." Clover's voice cracked slightly and held her face in her hands. She hated lying to her parents, but what else could she do?
Gavin held so much power over the sixteen-year-old.
Meanwhile, Liz had stayed outside of her daughter's bathroom door. Liz wasn't stupid, she knew something was up. She was not sure what it was, but had an idea.
She couldn't figure it out, but maybe one of her favorite children could.
"Luke," she began. "I know you're probably busy, but I need your help."
"Of course, what is it?"
Luke Hemmings was a world-renowned lead singer in the band 5 Seconds Of Summer who cared for his family more than anyone could imagine.
"It's your sister. She hasn't been herself lately, and I thought maybe you might know what to do." Liz spoke. She watched as her son's eyebrows knitted together over the phone.
"Are you sure?" Luke asked, "I just spoke to her this morning. She seemed fine to me."
"When she got home today she completely rushed past me. She didn't even look at me. I tried to ask what was wrong, but she said she was tired and was going to nap instead. I don't know what's going on."
"Hm," Luke hummed, "I guess that does sound odd for her. Did you try to talk to her?"
"I did." Liz nodded, "Like I said, she told me she was going to nap."
"Can I speak to her?" Luke asked.
"Yeah, sure."
Meanwhile, Clover was still in her bathroom, trying to cover up the bruise with a color correction kit from amazon she'd ordered months ago.
She froze when she heard footsteps approaching the bathroom door.
Clover threw on the hoodie she had on before and scrunched the hood, opening the door to her mom with a phone in her hand.
"Clo, your brother wants to talk to you."
Clover swallowed yet another lump in her throat, but nodded and took the phone from her mom. When the phone faced her, she saw her older brother with a small smile on his face.
"Hey, lucky."
Ever since Clover was born, Luke called her Lucky because she was a four-leaf clover. It was her nickname.
"Hey Luke, what's up?" Clover asked, her voice shaky.
"Just wanted to see how you were doing," Luke smiled. Clover felt her chest become tight. She watched as Luke's eyes dropped to the bathroom counter and his smile dropped.
"Luke, I love you, but I am severely busy," Clover chuckled nervously, moving positions and stood in front of her mom, "Can we talk tomorrow?"
"Wait—"
"See you!"
Clover smiled cautiously at her mom and handed her the phone, muttering a quick I love you and closing the bathroom door fast.
"See?"
Luke's heart was racing. He knew what she was doing.
"Did you say that Clover had a boyfriend?"
"Yeah, Gavin. Nice fellow he is—"
"How long have they been dating?"
"Two years, I believe." Liz shrugged. "What does he have to do with this?"
"Mom . . . I don't know how to tell you this,"
