"I'm doing okay, mama." Clover hummed with her phone in between her ear and shoulder as she picked cherries from the cherry tree. "You don't need to worry."

"I know." Liz said. "I'm just worried overall. You know me."

"I know." Clover smiled. "I miss you."

"I miss you more, sweetheart. Christmas is almost here." Liz said. Clover could practically hear the smile on her face. "Oh. There is something I need to tell you."

Clover's eyebrows went together. "What is it?"

"Your brothers, Ben and Jack were at the supermarket the other day, and they saw Gavin." Liz said slowly. Clover froze. "Gavin came up to them and said, 'Tell Clover to unblock me so I can talk to her.' Your brothers freaked out on him and found his mother alongside him in the grocery store not long after."

Clover's eyes closed immediately as her chest froze. "And?"

"Jack and Ben told his mother everything they knew. And she wasn't happy. Apparently, Gavin told his mom that you guys broke up because you cheated on him—apparently what he told everyone."

"Everyone?" Clover's blue eyes widened.

"It's just what I know, honey. I thought that you should know before coming back during Christmas time."

Clover bit her lip. "Thanks mom."

"Anytime sweetheart. I'm sorry you have to go through this." Liz apologized like it was her fault. "I love you."

"I love you more, mom." Clover's chest unfroze and she began breathing normally.

"Anywho, I— Yes, honey?" Clover heard her mom talking to her dad. "Alright! Be there in a moment. Clover, baby, your father needs me to sign some paperwork. I'll call you and Luke later on. I love you, darling."

"I love you as well, mama. See you maybe tonight." Clover smiled. She took the phone away from her ear and pressed the hang up button before closing her eyes.

Gavin already lowered her number of friends in the relationship—it was surely lowered now. If Gavin had told everyone in her previous friend group that she was the one who cheated, then she was for sure going to be alone in Australia.

She prayed that Gavin or one of Gavin's friends didn't take this to social media and ruin her name. She prayed that this didn't spread.

Clover did not want to have to go online and make a video about her abuse and abuser.
