What should've happened

Chapter 13

A year later the small family had moved into their home in the mountains of Austria. They gave Theseus his room which was close to theirs and filled with many toys and a big bed for him to grow into. Albus and Gellerts' room was a lot bigger with a separate sitting room and offices for both of them connected to the room. Their bedroom was spacious but not overly large, most of the room being taken up by a large bed with burgundy covers and pillows in black cases. The walls, like the rest of the castle, is bare stone with various portraits hanging. Albus' favorite portrait thought is in the main area and it was a recent addition that Gellert had commissioned of all three of them.

Albus was currently sitting in Gellerts office waiting for him to get back, Theseus was taking a nap. Gellert had gone out to a rally, the rallys were more Gellerts style while Alnus preferred to be more behind the scenes. In one year they had made tremendous progress in their cause, the one thing Abus hated was having to be away from Gellert for weeks at a time and Theseus was also starting to get upset about it. Albus stops spinning in the chair when the door opens "welcome home" he says and stands up and goes over hugging him.

Gellert hugs him back "Hello" he picks his now shorter lover up, "how were you and Theseus while I was gone?" Gellert had grown taller in the past year and was still growing a bit, Albus had hated that Gellert had gotten taller than him until he realized that he liked that he was more eye level with his blond lover when he picked him up. Albus smiles and kisses him again "we wish you were here more between running off to rally's and meeting with officials."

Gellert sits with him and hums "why didn't you bring that up sooner Albus? I could leave some rally's to Vida. She's proven herself trustworthy" he the others back as he talks about one of their more devout followers, her and her muggle boyfriend had run away from Paris after her parents found out about them, seeking refuge here Albus' soft spot couldn't say no to letting them board here. Jonathan, the muggle, had been an amazing help with Theseus or so he hears, but Gellert had made it clear that he doesn't want him alone with his son right now which the other understands. Gellert kisses Albus' head as he lays it on the others shoulder and looks at the time "mm, where is our little gift?"

Albus hums "napping I just checked on him about 15 minutes ago". They sit like that for a bit, without talking, just loving each other's presence. Albus plays with Gellerts hair while Gellert plays with the hem of Albus' shirt. Gellert turns to the window to look outside and instead gets a vision, a toddler curling behind the wing of an animal trying to keep warm. He turns back away and kisses Albus' cheek "I hate to break the silence my love, but our terror is up"

"He isn't a terror" Albus gets up and pulls him up. He knew Gellert acted like he does sometimes but he knew the blond actually loved them. They go to Theseus' room and Albus picks him up "hi baby, look who's home." Gellert wraps his arms around Albus and kisses Theseus' head, smiling a bit at the tired boys attempt to move to him.

"Apu" Theseus holds onto Gellert and lets the younger of his fathers take him into his arms. He lays his head down again and closes his eyes "missed apu..". Gellert smiles and rocks their son, letting him fall back asleep. He sits in a chair in the boys room and rubs his back "I missed you too" he whispers "presents can wait until you wake up". That catches the 7 year olds attention and he wakes up again immediately "presents!" He smiles and looks at Gellert "what did you get me apu!"

Gellert smiles a bit again "ok I'll get them" he flicks his hand toward himself and after a minute a bag flies in. He opens it and brings out some toys, a train set with red cars and painted gold wheels, and a teddy bear. Theseus hugs the bear tightly when it waves to him by itself. Albus smiles as he also watches new books come out and float to the ever growing bookshelf in Theseus' room, both of his parents did value knowledge and imagination after all. Gellert had brought some French books back this time such as "la petite sorcière" and "l'histoire du sorcier et du dragon" are the ones that he noticed out of them. There were most likely some non-fiction books Gellert brought home but he always focused more on childrens' books for Theseus, since after all his own favorite book was a childrens' book.
