Chapter 16

The next two days looked similar. Defne discharged her duties as Onur's assistant during the day, and spent her time after work in the company of Janset and Özge. She saw her parents, who were still relaxing at the hotel, taking advantage of the available activities and relaxing treatments.

She even went to the beach with Özge after work. The two finally had the afternoon off and, as they had planned earlier, they finally spent it together. They lay in their bathing suits on deck chairs that had a perfect view of the sea, taking advantage of the sunny weather. They had a chance to gossip with each other.

The main topic of their conversation became a short trip to Marmaris. Her cousin wanted to know all the details to find out how her relationship with Selim was. Defne, however, was not eager to share such information. She herself did not yet know if the line between friendship and deeper affection was beginning to blur. She was afraid that she might fall in love. She wasn't planning a fleeting romance. After all, she had come here to reflect on her life. There was no question of love.

Selim spent his last days in a similar manner. He busied himself with work, not wanting to constantly think about Defne. He caught himself thinking about what he was doing in his spare moments. He saw her fleetingly at the hotel and restaurant. They exchanged a few words with each other, but since they returned from their vacation they had not spent any time together outside of work. The man understood this. The girl had other priorities now. Her parents were at the hotel. Every day he saw the three of them together at least once. He was convinced that she spent her time with them after work, so he did not propose a meeting. He patiently waited for Mr. and Mrs. Turan to leave. At the same time, he greatly missed their evenings together on the beach.

On Wednesday, Selim made a business trip to Istanbul. He arrived on the first flight. He caught a cab and went straight to his architectural office. It was still early, so he didn't find anyone inside. He used the time ns to prepare his workspace.

Employees didn't start coming down until half an hour later. They were surprised by his presence, but were very happy to see him. Ezgi, spotting her friend in the office, threw her arms around his neck. Although they talked to each other every day on the phone or video camera she missed him very much.

- What are you doing here? - She asked, embracing her friend. - You didn't mention in a word that you would visit us!

- Late last night I bought tickets," he explained, looking at the brunette. He noticed a change in her appearance. The girl had shortened her hair. There was no trace of the long ponytail. - I thought I would surprise you guys. I missed you guys," he said, opening his arms. In this way he wanted to show that he meant all the employees.

- You did well," Ezgi replied, glancing at her colleagues, whose smiles did not leave their faces. Everyone was happy to see the boss in person and not through a computer screen. - You will be useful to us!

- In that case, let's get to work," he said, rubbing his hands together. - However, first let's all prepare something to drink!

Selim did not lock himself in his office. He took a seat at a vacant computer, among his subordinates. He reviewed the latest orders the agency was working on. He spent the next few hours taking care of finishing the projects he had started. In doing so, he was open to helping others. He offered advice to every employee. He enjoyed his work, especially working with his team.

When they took a break for a second breakfast, he held a short meeting in the conference room. He summarized in a few sentences the joint work of the last month. He thanked everyone for doing their jobs well. He was really proud that the agency had managed in his absence.

Finally, he informed his friends that this year's team-building event, will be held in Bodrum. He handed out double plane tickets to each employee individually so that they could also take their partners.
