A week later.
Selim, despite many approaches, was still unable to tell Defne that he was married and about to divorce. He found out about the court date on Monday. From that moment on, Zeynep gave him no peace. This was the agreement between them and the woman was going to enforce Korkmaz what he had promised her. Today was the last day for him to fulfil his promise to the older sister. The man did not want to lose any more in her eyes.
What's more, he didn't want to lose in Defne's eyes. Above all, he did not want to lose her. He realised that it was very foolish to be crazy about someone he had been dating for only three weeks. That's a short period of time to think seriously about another person, but not in his case. He was really falling in love for the first time. Before that, he had no clue what it was like to sincerely love someone. To no other woman he had spent time with, and there had been many, had he felt such an attachment as to Turan. For him then, all that mattered was feeling pleasure for both of them. Nothing else. That was why he couldn't find the right moment to talk to her about it. However, time was pressing and he had to do it.
Being in his office on the territory of the restaurant, he tried to concentrate on his work. To no avail, as his thoughts revolved around Defne and the inevitable. He was snapped out of his reverie by a new phone call.
He sighed heavily when he saw the name of his potential sister-in-law. She had been a pain in the ass for him for the past three days. Nevertheless, he couldn't complain because he knew she cared about her sister's happiness.
- 'I hope you remember that our agreement is coming to an end,' she began after greeting the brunet. - 'Don't let me down, please.
- Even if I wanted to forget, you are effectively making sure that doesn't happen,' he sighed, holding the phone to his ear while pushing his chair away from the desk. - 'I'll keep my word. Today Defne will find out that I am a married man. I will tell her everything if she lets me speak.
- Try to make her listen to you,' Zeynep instructed. - Do you already have a plan for how you will play this?
- 'Of course I do,' he muttered, turning his gaze to the door, as it seemed to him that someone had knocked on it. - 'I'll invite her to dinner. Today marks three weeks since we've been together, so she won't suspect anything. We'll eat something good and then I'll try to confess everything.
- I wish you luck and keep my fingers crossed," the actress replied with relief in her voice. - I believe you will make it. At the same time, I know how difficult it is for you. It's not at all easy for me to control you, but I'm doing it for Defne's sake. She needs to learn this from you. Otherwise...
- I know,' he interrupted, getting into his interlocutor's words. - I can't count how many times I've heard that before. And not just from you. It gives me hope that things will work out between us somehow. I'm ashamed to admit it, but I fell in love with her like some high school puppy.
- I realise that, which is why I gave you this chance. Otherwise I would have told her a long time ago. Don't screw it up even more, please.
- I'll do my best,' he assured her. - We are in touch.
- Papa," she said, hanging up.
Selim threw the device on the desk, which nearly fell off it. Fortunately, the phone stopped a few centimetres before the end of the tabletop. The man squatted down on the furniture again, resting his elbows on it. He wove his fingers into his hair, being completely helpless. He was afraid of this evening. Once again he regretted having initiated Zeynep at all. He could have told her nothing and done it his way, a moment when he would have been a completely free man.
