After a long and hardly sleepy night, a new day dawned. Selim had been preparing for his meeting with Defne since the morning. He decided that this time he would not let go so easily and would do everything to talk to the girl. He would not give in to any requests from Özge and Zeynep. He was going to finally get his way.
The man arranged a place where they could talk peacefully. He went to the office where Onur was officiating. Seemingly on the pretext of exchanging a few sentences with his cousin on an important professional topic, he actually wanted to check whether the brunette had shown up for work.
He walked inside and immediately his gaze went straight to Onur's assistant's desk. Defne was sitting behind him, typing something on the keyboard. She reflexively raised her eyes when she heard someone enter the room.
- Selam! - he said, glancing at her.
At the sight of Korkmaz, whom Defne had not seen for a day, her heart began to beat harder. At the same time, she became concerned about his condition, seeing several marks on his face from the blows Ayaz had dealt him. She felt sorry for him, but quickly realized that he deserved it. She tensed up and went back to her work, creating the appearance that Selim's presence had not impressed her. However, she got out of rhythm and missed the right letters, making mistakes in words.
Selim, meanwhile, moved to the part where his cousin's stand was located. He gently closed the glass door.
- I was afraid he wouldn't come today either," he said, sitting down across from him. In his hand he took the first folder, lying on the countertop. He opened it for appearances. - Did she tell you anything?
- No, she didn't mention a word about you," replied Onur, leaning back comfortably on the chair. - She only apologized for not coming to work yesterday. She immediately got down to her duties. And I think you just distracted her," he said, seeing the girl nervously close the laptop flap, reaching for a mug of tea.
- Would you mind if she took a coffee break now? I would like to talk to her.
- You know it doesn't matter to me. Any employee when he feels like it can go for a break," he replied, looking at his cousin, who was already looking better and better. The bruises on his face were getting paler every day. - Good luck, brother!
Selim closed the folder he was holding in his hand and put it back. He rose from his chair, smiling at Onur. He was nervous that Defne would refuse him, but decided not to worry too much. There was a strong will to fight in him.
- Can we talk? - He asked, approaching her workstation.
- Let's talk, but honestly," she replied, putting down her pen. In her dress pocket she tucked her phone. She didn't plan to use it, but it could come in handy. She didn't want to worry her loved ones unnecessarily anymore. - Let's get this over with.
- In that case, come with me. I have found a place where no one will disturb us.
The girl obediently carried out his request. They walked along the corridor in silence. A moment later they stopped in front of one of the hotel rooms. Selim opened the door with a special card, inviting Defne inside.
The room was clean, waiting for new guests. It consisted of a large bedroom, a sitting area with a kitchenette, and a bathroom. The walls were painted white, the furniture was beige, and accessories such as pillows, bedspread and cups were navy blue.
- Thank you for agreeing to talk," Selim began, closing the door behind them, . - I'm sorry for everything. For hurting you," he said with remorse, slowly approaching her.
- Stop it! - She asked, in a raised tone. - Do you think your apology will change anything? You cheated me all the time! You have been lying to my face for days and even weeks! It wasn't right!
