As I found out that Charles would be flying a bit later than me, I decided to use my time at the airport to check whether a seat was vacant on Charles's flight. I wanted to surprise my boy, just because I thought he deserved it. I didn't know whether this new side of me was something I myself approved of. Spoiling others wasn't my usual trait, but with Charles everything seemed different.
After he had accepted my request to become my boyfriend, I suddenly didn't care about anything else but him. Of course the lurking problem of our family, friends, teams, and the people we knew, was moving even closer by the second. But I didn't mind. Right now my mind was focused on making sure that my very own Monegasque was treated the best way possible, because it was the only way that I could see myself being just somewhat deserving of the amazing god-like incredible man I had found for myself. To be honest, it was probably just as much me, who couldn't resist the waiting the time, until we saw each other again. We had only been apart since this morning, I should say, but nevertheless my desire for him only grew bigger the more time we spent apart.
I had spent the day in my bed, using most of the time on my phone, scrolling through the pictures, which I had of Charles and those that belonged to his private Instagram, which was quite the opposite to that of his public page. His private was much more personal, which meant I could see him in places and situations, where he was truly comfortable, which was amazing. He seemed to have such a lovely family, lovely friends and was living the time of his life. At one point, it got me to question how my role in that picture would be. I quickly shook it aside though and focused only on his smile, his face, his cute cute face, whenever he was wearing his bandana and glasses. It really suited him.
Snap back to reality, I had found my way through the airport up to the Air France informations desk. As I waited in line, a couple of fans spotted me and asked for a picture, and I couldn't turn down those cute little boys asking for a picture, so I happily let them take one with me, before I signed their small autograph books that they brought with them. It really put an even bigger smile on my face. I loved my fans, they were the best.
"AU SUIVANT!" The lady behind the desk now called. I looked up and realised that the queue had now been worked through, and it was my turn. "Sorry, miss, I didn't hear you there. I was just wondering, whether you have any seats on the 8:55pm flight to Nice," I replied politely, and the lady said that she would just check.
After a couple of minutes, she looked back up. "I'm sorry sir, I'm afraid the flight is full. Don't you have a ticket at all?"
"Oh, yeah, I do. It's just, I wanted to surprise someone on the flight by being there myself, but never mind, it's okay," I assured her. She let out a sigh, probably because she couldn't bear that some of the passengers, who turned up at the airport didn't get a seat. Nice gesture though. As I got ready to pick up my bag again, I felt someone gently tap my shoulder.
"Hey, you're Max Verstappen, right? I couldn't help but overhear your conversation with the lady at the counter. As it happens, I myself have been worried about not getting a ticket, but then I suddenly got one on the flight that you requested. The situation is though, that I need to be in Nice earlier than my flight, so if you are up to it, we can swap tickets," the old lady next to me said.
"That would be so great. Oh my God, thank you so much. Can I hug you?" I replied, making her blush.
"Of course honey, it's convenient for the both of us."
And so I gave her a hug, and we swapped tickets, wished each other a safe flight, and I could finally go through security, wondering about how I should surprise Charles.
My plan was to board at the last minute in the hope of Charles already having boarded so that I could surprise him, when we landed. As I boarded the plane, I noticed the lady had also gotten a First Class ticket, so I made my way to First Class, where my heart dropped to my feet. The lady's ticket was reserved for the spot right next to Charles, whom I could see was making himself comfortable. I gently approached the seat, where I decided to pull a little prank on him. I cleared my throat, and asked in a raspy voice: "Is this seat free?"
Charles immediately turned and gasped loud enough for the whole First Class to hear. Luckily, no one noticed, and I put my bag in the overhead locker and sat down beside Charles, whom I greeted with a small hug.
