Jeff's POV
I walk out of the kitchen, in my usual attire, hearing cooing coming from the dining area. I smile widely as I see my daughter sitting in her high chair looking at all of her uncles, Sally sitting besides her playing with her dolls. I carefully light the cake that is in my hands. Slender sees me with it and says, "Alright guys. Jeff finished the cake." within a matter of seconds, everyone starts singing 'Happy Birthday' to my little angel.
I hear her coo again and I smile at her while kissing her forehead after we all finish. I see a big smile come across her face. "Here you go baby girl." I whisper in her ear. "Happy first birthday." I add afterwards, giving her a big piece of cake with some ice cream.
After I dish out everyone else some cake and ice cream, I walk back over to Lilliana and grab the fork carefully causing her to whine for a second, before opening her mouth for a small bite of cake. "It's hard to believe that Jeff is a father." I hear Ben mutter. I shake my head and give Lilliana another bite.
'Ever since Rose was murdered, I promised myself I'd take care of our child. I have. I'm not as immature as I used to been. Ben needs to understand that.' I think to myself, feeding Lilly. "When do you think she'll take her first official steps?" I ask Slender. "Soon Jeff. Soon. Rose would be so happy to see you feeding Lilliana." I smile and look back at Lilly when I notice that she slowly started falling asleep. "I should take her upstairs and put her to bed. We've already opened the gifts. Ben, when I come down in a couple minutes, we can play some video games like old times."
He cheers and runs to the living room to set up. Splendor walks over and tries to take Lilly. I glare at him. "Jeff, let me take her. You're working your tailbone off. I'll take care of her don't worry." "I've got her." is all I say relaxing, carrying her upstairs. I walk into my room, which holds her crib now, and her changing table. I take off her diaper and wipe her up a bit, before putting another one on. After that is finished, I walk over to the bathroom and wet a soft rag with warm water. I smile and walk out cleaning her up gently, before putting her in a nice new clean pink outfit. I lay her in her crib and kiss her forehead gently. "I love you so, so much Lilliana. If only your mother was here..." I whisper sadly, walking to my window looking out into the forest where she died in my arms.
Ever since that night a whole year ago, her last words have haunted my dreams and I can't get her out of my mind. "Do you trust me?" "What's that supposed to mean Rose? Give me a sign please. Lilliana needs you, I need you. Come back to us please. I've been trying, but, I just don't feel like I'm doing good enough. I love you so, so, much. Lilliana had her first birthday today. Slender, Splendor, Trender, and Offender all got her new clothes. Ben and EJ got her toys. Sally gave up a few of her dolls for when Lilly is older, and everyone else chipped in, in decorating. I know you'd be happy with it all."
After I finish my little spill of how much I miss her, I feel a tear slip down my cheek. "Child, I'll watch over Lilliana for you while you play some video games." Slender says. I nod my head and walk over to her, grazing her cheek lightly with my thumb, smiling a little, before walking out and downstairs to play some games with Ben for the first time in a long time.
