Chapter Nine: I Can't Apologize For Something You Don't Know

Jeff's POV

I can feel my brain shut down as I stare at this woman in front of me. 'I don't have a sister. I never had a sister. This can't be happening. There was only me, mom, dad, and Liu. No Cali... no sister.' I think to myself, sitting on the porch. Andy stands next to me and says, "So that means you're my uncle mister?" I look over at Cali and dead stare. "Who were you leaving with? Why didn't I nor Liu know about your existence?" I ask, standing up and looking down at her.

"Well, I was living with our grandparents at the time. And, mom and dad kept me a secret from you two because they weren't exactly proud of me at the time. I was getting into trouble and that's something they didn't want." she says honestly, staring straight back at me. "Then how come you didn't come visit at all when I was in the hospital if you knew so much about us?" I ask, getting pissed. "Well, I heard about your accident and was going to head out that day to see you and Liu, but our grandparents held me back. So, I had to wait another day. When I go there, it was to late. You had already killed our family." she says, glaring at me. "Hey, in all defense, they were going to shoot me." "If that wasn't threatened, would you have still killed them?" "I don't know. Probably. Depends. It's in the past so it doesn't matter now." I finish, walking inside.

"Guys! I brought two more people! Sally come here!" in a matter of seconds there's a stampede coming down the stairs, Andy getting scared and hiding behind me. "This is Cali and her son Andy. They're becoming Pasta's. Now, Cali, just so happens to be my sister apparently. I saved them from some abusive asshole. Now, I expect you all to treat them nicely." I say looking at Sally and the rest of them. "So, you mean Andy can be my new friend?" Sally asks, excited for the news. "Yes Sally. He's around your age, so treat him nicely." I say, walking away, leaving Andy to meet the rest of the Pasta's expecting Cali to follow me. Which she does. "Would you like to meet your niece?" I ask, walking into my room. I walk over to the crib and see Lilly in there awake playing with a rattle. "Dada!" she shouts giggling. "Hey baby girl." I say smiling, picking her up and tossing her up in the air lightly. She laughs and hugs me when I catch her. I kiss her cheek before looking over at Cali who has a smile on her face. "Who knew my baby brother was such a softy for children." she says, grabbing Cali.

I shake my head slowly, watching intently as Lilly stares at Cali confused. "Huh?" is the noise Lilliana makes. "I'm Cali. I'm your aunt sweetie. Daddy's sister." "Cal." Lilly tries saying. I chuckle and take her back before walking downstairs, getting some baby food. "How does lasagna sound?" I ask her, kissing her cheek. "Yea!" she tries saying. I smile and start feeding her.

Cali's POV

I watch Jeff feed Lilly, smiling. 'I'm so, so sorry Jeff... There's just somethings about our family that you don't need to know.' I think to myself, walking over to the window. I know that Andy is having fun which is a good thing. 'I hate you for making me lie to him. I hate you so much. But, it's for our parents... I hope you're happy Liu... I hope you're happy.'
