Y/n's POV
It was finally Christmas break and my mom decided to let Miya and I go to Tokyo. I've been wanting to go for a while now and I was getting ready to go. I was packing all my clothes and I was on FaceTime with Miya.
"It's gonna be freezing in Tokyo" Miya said to me. "It isn't that bad, if you can handle Okinawa, you can handle Tokyo" I explained to him. "If I get frost bite, it's gonna be your fault" Miya said. "You're acting like we're going to the Arctic" I joked. "Well for me, it's gonna feel like the Arctic" Miya said. "Once you get used to it, you'll never wanna come back to Okinawa" I said. "You didn't wanna come to Okinawa?" Miya asked, a little hurt. "Well...at first I didn't have any friends and that kinda sucked, but I met you and everyone and I started skating at S" I explained.
Miya sat there and looked at me for a second before responding.
"I wonder what would've happened if you never moved back here" Miya said sadly. "Don't think like that, I came back for a reason and I didn't fully appreciate coming back until recently" I said. "Recently?" Miya asked me. "Well..I was thinking about it and I thought about everything that I've experienced here. I don't think that it'd be the same in Tokyo, I wouldn't have met you...you guys, Reki, Langa, and you" I caught myself lacking. "Well it's getting late, we should get some rest, we have a big day tomorrow" Miya said. "You're right, good night" I said to him. "Good night, Lov- Y/n! Good night Y/n!" Miya's face was pink and he hung up the phone.
I looked at the old picture from the arcade. That day was the first time I kissed Miya and I kinda missed my old self, I was so bold and I wasn't afraid of rejection. Now I can't even talk to Miya without getting flustered and it was a little disappointing.
Miya's POV
I laid down on my side and took off my phone case. I always had the picture from the photo booth with me, I just didn't let anyone see it. We were so young back then and things were just easier. I remembered how I used to dream about Y/n. Her in the flower field, such a cliché but I always thought of her as this perfect and angelic type of person. To this day, it was hard to believe that her beauty was real.
Y/n's POV
The next morning, I woke up bright and early at four thirty am. I did my morning routine and then we picked up Miya. On the way to the airport, we took a short nap in the car and then we made our way to the gate and departed. We found our seats on the plane and waited for takeoff. The flight attendants went over the safety and all that stuff and then I dozed off before the plane even started moving.
Miya's POV
After the airport staff went over the safety protocols, Y/n fell asleep on my shoulder. Her hand was right next to mine and I held it for a while. Our fingers were laced together and it felt nice, despite being on a plane that was not the most comfortable. I ended up falling asleep too, my hand never let go of Y/n's. After about an hour and a half of sleeping, we finally landed and we both awoke. We were still holding hands. Y/n looked at me with cheeks that were tinted pink.
"Let's go" I said to her.
We both got up and got our luggage. When we got out of the airport, I felt like I was in a different world. Tokyo was so busy and it was so different from Okinawa. It was noticeably colder for starters, and there was so much going on. It was nothing like Okinawa.
"Okay, we're gonna drop our stuff off at the hotel and then we'll find stuff to do" Y/n explained to me before walking off. "Wait, we're not getting a taxi?" I asked her. "No" she laughed. "What do you mean no?" I asked her. "It takes like thirty minutes to get there, you'll survive" she said to me. "Fine" I followed behind her.
Y/n actually lied, it took twenty six minutes, not thirty. When we arrived, Y/n checked us in and we got a room on the seventh floor. When we got into the room, I was starstruck. The view of the city was so beautiful. Although the sun wasn't even out yet, the city was lit up.
"It's a breathtaking sight, isn't it?" Y/n asked me. "It is" I said to her. "Now you see why I didn't wanna leave it" she said to me. "I wouldn't blame you if you stayed in Tokyo" I said. "Okay, enough of that, let's go" Y/n dragged me out of the hotel room.
We took the subway and we ended up getting breakfast at a Starbucks and eating it on the go. We then made our way to the Skytree.
"You're not afraid of heights are you?" Y/n asked me. "No" I replied quickly.
It was about nine in the morning now and we were ascending up the into the what felt like the sky. When we got to the top, I was able to see all of Tokyo from above. Everything looked so small and it was so cool.
"Look, that was my old elementary school" Y/n pointed. "You can tell from all the way up here?" I asked her. "I mean...yeah, I was going to that place every day for seven years, I can tell it's my school just by the shape of it and the things that are there" she explained to me.
After Skytree, we went to the Ghibli Museum for a few hours and it actually felt like we were getting transported in all the different movies, we didn't want to leave but it got late so we had to go back to the hotel. Within ten minutes, we both fell asleep.
