Miya's POV

We woke early the next morning and boarded the plane. I felt like things were different now, I was almost positive that Y/n liked me too. She showed me all these places in Tokyo that were special to her and she just keeps on giving me 100% in all of our interactions. As we sat in our seats, we had fallen asleep again. With Y/n's head resting on my shoulder, my heart was beating  so fast. It was almost leaping out of my chest. For the majority of the flight, we were sleeping, once we landed, we got off the plane and Michi picked us up.

"So how was Tokyo?" she asked. "It was amazing, I didn't wanna come back home" I replied to her. "Wow, I didn't expect that reply from you" Michi said to me. "Yeah...I think he's in love with the city" Y/n said.

Michiko dropped me off home and I dropped off my luggage before going out to skate. The air was nice and breezy, but not as cold as Tokyo. It had been a while since I've skated by myself like this, but it was nice. I took my mind off of everything and just skated around Okinawa. When I went to the skate park, I saw Reki and Langa working on tricks.

"Miya you're back!" Reki smiled at me. "How was Tokyo?" Langa asked. "It was so pretty, we went to some shrines, the Ghibli museum, and Y/n showed me the places where she grew up" I explained to them. "ooooooo" Reki cooed. "Shut up" I said to him. "You guys wanna go to S?" Langa asked. "That would be nice, it's been a while since we've been there" Reki said. "You guys wanna race there?" I asked. "Oh it's on!" Reki's competitive side was showing.

We all started to race down to S. I easily took the lead, followed by Reki and then Langa. We were skating on the sidewalks and on the roads when there were no cars. We had to be careful of people walking and other things that would get in our way. It felt so good to be skating with Reki and Langa like we did back in the day. Some things would never change between us, like this. Skateboarding with them would always be something enjoyable that I look forward to.

Once we got to S, we started an actual race, the track was so predictable now, we knew it too well but it was okay cause we still had fun. Langa ended up taking the lead from me and Reki fell into last place.

"Gosh that was exhausting, wanna go to Joe's?" Reki asked. "Old man" I said to him. "No, it's the weather, it's hard for him to breathe in cold weather" Langa explained. "Cold? This is nothing compared to Tokyo" I said to him. "We get it, you go to Tokyo for a few days and now you're a local there" Reki said.

After he caught his breath, we went to Sia La Luce. Joe was trying out new recipes when we got there.

"Oh wow, all three of you" Joe said. "Yeah...shocking" Langa said. "So how was your trip Miya?" Joe asked me.

I just smiled thinking about the past few days.

"...so did we get anywhere or are we gonna avoid our feelings for another five years?" Joe asked me. "It' been five years?" Langa asked me. "Oh...about that, I actually wanna confess" I said. "About damn time!" Reki slung his arm over my shoulder. "...wait how are you gonna confess to her?" Langa asked.

We all sat there in silence for a few moments, trying to think of the perfect way to confess.

"I'd take her to an ice rink, but that'd be unoriginal" I spoke up. "Why would you take her to an ice rink?" Reki asked. "She used to ice skate all the time in Tokyo" I explained to him. "Oh....I didn't know that, Kaoru probably doesn't know that either" Joe said. "She's really good too, she did this double axel thingy and she taught me how to ice skate in ten minutes" I gushed.

"Between you and Y/n...do we know who's better at skateboarding?" Langa asked.

Without thinking, I was gonna say that it was me and then I realized that we still don't know to this day.

"They only did one beef right?" Joe asked. "Yeah and it was tie" Reki replied. "You guys do realize that was a landmark race because they had a full on conversation while racing and it was a tie right?" Joe said. "What are you getting at?" I asked him. "Well you two can settle this after five years: who's the better skater, Y/n or Miya" he explained. "I don't want everyone being there" I said. "Not everyone has to be there, S was dead silent until we came today" Reki said. "You're right" I replied to him. "I guess it's Miya vs Bubblegum" Joe said.

It was kinda weird hearing her S name after all this time; we only ever called her that there.

Y/n's POV

I was in my room thinking about Tokyo, although I lived there for eight years, going back felt different for some reason. I was really happy that I got to show Miya where I grew up, I showed him my past because I wanted him to be my future. And then I realized that I still had feelings for him. I put my hand over my mouth.

How did it take me this long?  I asked myself.

Him confessing while drunk should've been my wake up call, but now I knew for sure that my feelings would be shared with him. I wanted him to confess to me again, so he can remember and so that it could be more special than the first time.

"Y/n, can you come here please?" my mom called me to her room. "Yeah?" I asked her.

I noticed that she had just gotten off of the phone.

"We need to go to The Shindo household tomorrow" she said to me. "Why?" I asked her. "You'll find out tomorrow" she replied to me. "...okay" I said.
