THINGS WERE SAFE or so it seemed. The huge wooden door was closed, the key inside, and it was impossible to get in even through the thin gap between the door and the floor. The windows were closed and the curtains drawn. There was no cold air from outside, but the room was still as cold as ice.

Was the cold a part of the room?

Aemma pulled the covers over her until only her eyes were seen and stared at the door, wondering if anyone would come in. It didn't make sense for anyone to do that. After all, she didn't do anything to anyone, she didn't want to be there, she didn't want to fight. She came at the behest of her mother to wait for her family in King's Landing. But that doesn't mean someone has to kill her . . . right?

She is safe there.

A thin strip of light penetrated from the gap under the door, but suddenly part of it disappeared.

Someone is there . . .

No, no, that's normal! It's a maid or someone walking down the hall. In the middle of the night . . . which is totally fine, Aemma likes to walk around in the middle of the night too.

The silence was filled with the sounds of fingernails repeatedly running across the surface of the wooden door, leaving grooves and shivers running up her spine. It seemed as if they started at the top and went down to the ground, and it repeated itself over and over, louder and louder.

"Open the door, Aemma."

The voice was familiar. As if she heard it. However, it was difficult to recognize it, as it seemed to her that it was not even human, he was cold, silent, scratchy. Chilling your spine and leaving your head empty, unable to produce any thought. Was it even spoken? Or did Aemma just imagine it? Or only she should have heard that voice . . .

I don't want to, Aemma thought, she wanted to swallow to get rid of the dryness in her throat, but she couldn't.

There was silence for a moment. The scratching stopped.

But then there was a bang. Followed by another and another. So loud that Aemma nearly flinched at each one and her eyes filled with tears of despair as she saw the door move under the pressure. As if they were going to fall out of their place at any moment. And what will happen to her when the door is no longer a obstacle between her and what is outside?

"Let me in! Let me in! Let me in!"

Was it a shout or still a whisper? From a person or an animal? Was it even important? Apparently it didn't care what Aemma had to say anyway, the line 'Let me in' kept repeating itself so fast and so loud that it stopped making sense.

I don't want to. Leave me alone, Aemma wanted to say, but stayed silent. However, these thoughts kept repeating over and over in her head.

Maybe it worked. The banging stopped and the light behind the door went out. It was so quiet again that Aemma could hear her own breathing.

She breathed a sigh of relief. Her body relaxed and Aemma turned onto her other side, her face facing the window.

Her eyes widened when she saw someone watching her--
