"I don't think I am." Oliver said. Lucis stepped forward, concern flaring in his eyes.

"What did you do Oliver?"

Panic.

"Wh-what do you mean?" Oliver asked. "What did I do?"

"You don't remember?" Lucis asked. "You attacked Eric but when we turned the lights were on you were gone."

"Is Eric okay?" Oliver demanded. Lucis nodded. "When did this happen?"

"Just now." Lucis informed his friend.

"I was here the entire time." Oliver said. "I thought I heard something and I found a woman here. But when you turned the lights on she was gone." Lucis and Eric met each other's eyes.

"What's going on?"

**

"Lucis, wait up!"

Lucis turned to see Eric running up to him.

"Where should we put the body?" Eric asked.

"Put it with the dead zombies." Lucis said. "That's the best place to put it right now." Eric nodded and ran back to the house. Lucis turned back to the street ahead and kept on walking, gun hanging at his side. He stopped at the dead end at the end of the street and took in a deep breath. Do it, Lucis. Kill him. Lucis looked back at the far away house and saw Eric step off the stairs. He looked his way and waved. Lucis waved back. Eric turned and walked back inside.

**

That night Lucis stood outside. He had switched with Eric because he wasn't able to sleep. The air wasn't as cold as last night and the moon was hiding behind a thick bank of clouds. The lights in the house had turned off a while ago meaning Eric was asleep. Lucis yawned lightly and shivered, clutching his gun closer. Tonight was going to be a long night. Like every night.

**

"I don't see anything so far."

Lucis stepped forward, passing his dropped gun. He walked deeper into the house followed by his friend. He pushed a door open, expecting a zombie but the room was empty. He walked into the room, looking around. It looked like a bedroom.

"Look. Weapons." There was a stack of guns in the corner. Lucis walked over and gratefully picked up his next form of protection. "Ready?"

"Of course I'm ready." Lucis said, cocking the gun. "Let's get huntin'."

**

Lucis wiped his eyes. Fatigue was hitting him hard. In the distance he could see the faint light of the sun rising over the houses. Lucis sighed in relief as the brightening sun rose ever higher in the sky. The lights turned on in the house and Eric stepped out.

"Come on." He said. "I think I found something for breakfast." Lucis gratefully followed him inside and collapsed into a chair. Eric pulled out some random heatable food from Costco from a cabinet and threw it in the microwave. "We're running out of food." Eric said.

"Are there any stores near here?" Lucis asked.

"Yeah but there are tons of zombies between us and them." Eric informed him. The microwave timer went off and Eric dished off half of the meal to Lucis. "We have a couple days left for food but we're running low on water."

"We'll get some soon." Lucis said. "If we don't get it in time we can always drink tap water."

"We don't know how long the tap water will last."

"We'll get some."

**

That night Lucis passed out instantly. Eric walked outside, trying not to wake up his friend. That night the moon was the only thing in the sky. It cast light onto the street in front of Eric. Do it, Lucis. Kill him. Now. Eric swallowed. I'll do it. You haven't killed a real person before. Eric took some deep breaths, trying to calm himself. See you on the other side. Blam. The gun dropped out of Eric's hand and he collapsed to his knees.

"What happened?"

Lucis' eyes trailed from Eric to the zombie body.

"Holy-" He said, mouth agape. "You actually did it." Eric felt a surge of pride well up inside him.

"Wow. Good job Eric." Eric smiled.

Tears finally came pouring out of Eric's eyes. He clutched his arms to try to stop the shaking. It didn't work. Eric cried his heart out.

**

"What happened to you last night?" Lucis asked. "Your eyes are red."

"It's fine, I'm fine." Eric lied. "I'm just tired." Lucis nodded, he didn't seem like he believed Eric.

"Breakfast is ready." Lucis said. "I managed to find a last bit of that off brand coffee stuff in the back of the cabinet. Hopefully it's still warm."

Eric nodded. "Thank you." Lucis nodded back and without a word led his friend into the kitchen.

**

Lucis was grateful when he was able to throw his empty coffee cup into the sink. Eric seemed happy as well when he drained the last few drops of the murky coffee. Eric and Lucis dumped their dirty dishes into the sink and went to the living room. Lucis collapsed onto the couch. Eric had a more graceful sit when he dropped onto a chair. Lucis laid his head back, letting it fall off the side of the couch. He sighed and closed his eyes. Sleep was coming at him again. The coffee didn't help keep him awake. Lucis turned to look at Eric. Eric smiled and Lucis smiled back. Eric's eyes didn't hold up the smile. They seemed sad. I'll do it. You haven't killed a real person before. Oliver.
