Thankfully, Clara kept her mouth shut. She kept glancing over at Lucis and Eric though. One morning, she couldn't take her eyes off them. Eric yawned.
"Oliver's doing well." He whispered to Lucis as they waited for the other officers to get their cadets. Lucis nodded.
"He's a lot better than when we first found him." Lucis whispered back. They shut up when they saw Clara walking over.
"I'd hate to ruin our friendship, Lucis." Clara said with a beautiful smile spread neatly across her face.
"Our friendship stopped when you started stalking me." Lucis said, not looking at her.
"I take my job seriously! Don't you?" Clara said. She didn't wait for an answer. "Survivors are bad. They will destroy this place and leave us homeless! They will kill our fathers and kidnap our mothers! They're no good."
"Is that what they told you?" Lucis said, finally looking at Clara. He wasn't fast enough to stop the hurt from clouding his eyes. "Really Clara. I thought you were better than that." Clara stepped back, mouth slightly agape. She turned and hurried off.
"She knows too much." Eric said, watching her back retreat into the crowd of chatting officers.
"Way too much." Lucis agreed. The cadets began to file out of their rooms and the officers stepped forward, searching for their cadets. Lucis and Eric waited for everyone to leave. Clara pushed past them, talking, with a smile of course, to her young cadet who was looking up at her in awe. That's how every cadet looked at the officers. Because they knew, one day, they'd be exactly like them. But Lucis and Eric knew that would never happen. Because they would make sure that one day wouldn't come.

"Okay so, what's the plan?"
All three boys were in Oliver's cave. It was about midnight and everyone was exhausted. Oliver rubbed his eyes and shrugged. Eric and Lucis looked at each other.
"Well," Eric said. "I don't think we have one yet."
"We have to make one." Lucis said. "If we want to take this place down, we have to have a plan." The three boys sat in silence, thinking.
"Maybe we could get Oliver inside somehow." Eric suggested. "He could disguise as one of those masked officers."
"The masked officers fight every day! How could Oliver stay undercover with that happening?" Lucis asked.
"I got this." Oliver said, nodding. "I can do it." Lucis sighed.
"Okay. We'll find a way to get you in." He said.
"The vents!" Eric said, a smile spreading across his face. "That's how we got in! They didn't catch us!"
"When should we do it?" Oliver asked.
"Tonight."

Lucis pulled himself into the vent first then, he was followed by Oliver who was followed by Eric. They moved silently through the vents. This is all too easy. Lucis thought. Why haven't we gotten any resistance yet? We're literally harboring a survivor right under their noses! Lucis peeked down at what was under him. No one walked the hallway. Lucis opened the grating and jumped down. Eric and Oliver swiftly followed him. Lucis beckoned them to follow. The hallways were dark so it was hard to navigate to where they were going. But, they quickly found their way.
"There's a spare." Lucis said, pointing to some clothes. "Hopefully you know what to do?"
"I know what to do." Oliver said.
"The masked officers won't know the difference if someone's added." Eric told him. "One to two people get added every week."
"One to two good people get added every week." Lucis corrected. "Good luck Oliver." Oliver nodded and slipped into the room, saying a quick goodnight to Lucis and Eric. They turned and hurried back to their rooms.

The next day Clara ratted them out. Well, technically she didn't ratt Lucis and Eric out. All she told the superior officers was that a survivor was in a cave on the mountain. This was the first time the newly established officers and cadets had seen the masked officers in action. And one of them was Oliver. Lucis and Eric watched the masked people run past, swords hanging on their backs and guns banging against their legs. They moved quickly through the hallways, dodging people who were in their path. Lucis and Eric watched them run past. Once they were gone, everyone started moving, the voices started up loudly again.
"It's time." Lucis said to Eric, watching the corner where the last masked officer had disappeared. "I talked about it with Oliver last night. This will be when we whip these people out for good." Eric nodded.
"I'm ready." He said. Eric looked at his friend. "Are you?"
Lucis nodded. "Yes. Yes I am ready."

Lucis was in charge of destroying the building. He was going to start a fire in multiple rooms. Lucis didn't want to kill any of the innocent families and cadets so he gave them time to escape. But the most prominent officers, the ones who wanted him and his friends dead, they didn't make it out in time. That's what Lucis told the families when they asked.
"GET OUT OF HERE!" An officer yelled, pushing the families forward, towards the door. The officers near the door ran back into the fire, looking for more families. But Lucis knew there were no more families in there. He had kept track of every family, cadet, and young officer. They were all safe. Unbeknownst to the safe people who were crowded outside, Lucis closed and locked the door. He had locked every other window and door. He knew it was brutal but it needed to be done. Lucis ran towards the cave, raising his gun. The fight had already begun. Eric was hidden behind some rocks and the masked Oliver was at the top of a tree. Lucis raised his gun and pulled the trigger. There was no turning back. Ever.
