Xiao wasn't a big fan of art class, but he was not an avid hater either. Well, he couldn't deny that colour theory was a pain. The assignment was simple to understand: make two separate art pieces that play around with colours... or something.

The substitute teacher thought it would be a good idea to make them work in teams to create two different pieces: make a story with only two images.

Finding a teammate had always been a nuisance to Xiao. Many were aware that he wasn't much of a socializer. He didn't bother looking around, as he knew everybody had already rushed towards their friends.

He didn't expect a shadow to tower over the piece of paper he was staring at. When the boy looked up, he was greeted by what he could only describe as a ray of yellow sunshine. All things aside, Aether took it upon himself to approach Xiao.

"Everybody is already in a team, so that leaves you and me," he smiled. He acted as though that embarrassing encounter never happened, and so Xiao played along. Aether continued, "well, I was wondering if you'd like to team up?"

Xiao nodded. There was, in truth, little reason to actually ask. It was only them and so by default, they would be paired together. Aether smiled and took a nearby chair to sit down at the desk. The blond stared at him momentarily, before asking the obvious question "do you have any ideas for the project?"

Right, the project. Xiao's wandering mind focused on the task at hand. The first idea that came to him was one of a coffee shop worker. The room would be grey and monotone, giving off a sad or boring feeling before turning bright and vibrant when a customer walks in. He quickly shook off the idea, that would be too similar to him and Aether. The tips of his ears turned red.

Aether didn't seem to notice, since for the most part his ears were covered with hair. "Oh, I might have something."

Xiao hummed, urging the latter to share his thoughts. Therefore, Aether did exactly that. The dark-haired boy nodded. Barely any time passed since they first started talking, and the idea came relatively quickly.

The part-time cafe worker took out a sketchbook and began doodling concepts of what they could do. Aether did the same. The rest of the class kept chirping about their weekends and whatnot, but since the duo weren't friends they remained silent. That was the case until the bell rang, dismissing them.

Xiao rushed out of the classroom. He had one last class before the day was over.
