Ch. 9: Shwarma Time

As Loki starts to pull himself up after the Hulk's attack, the Avengers circle them, ready to attack in case they try something.

Loki is out of the scepter's trance now and is trying to save face, so he smirks and says, "I think I'll take that drink now."

Tony Stark sarcastically laughs to himself, and he opens his mouth to make a comeback. Before he can do so, S.H.I.E.L.D. agents storm into the room, arresting Loki and taking the scepter into their custody. As they pack up the materials of the scepter and get Loki squared away, Madelyn walks into the room. The Avengers are chatting with one another and the other agents. Steve glances over and sees Madelyn staring at the wreckage.

"Hi," Steve starts as he walks over toward Madelyn, "I'm Steve Rogers." He holds out his hand to shake hers.

Madelyn turns to face him and looks down at his hand then back up to him. She slowly extends her own and finishes the handshake.

"Madelyn," She states, "Uh Lassiter. Madelyn Lassiter." She smiles sheepishly as they both drop their hands.

"I'm sorry you had to be involved in this. That must have been frightening," Steve states.

"Yeah, definitely not how I wanted my morning to start," Madelyn shyly smiles again, trying to lighten the mood up.

"Yeah I guess not," Steve chuckles, "If you don't mind me asking, what kind of abilities do you have? I saw you glowing up here, and I've never seen anything like that."

"Oh," Madelyn starts, "I'm not entirely sure if I'm honest..."

Steve nods, about to start another sentence, when Thor comes up and joins the conversation.

"Your glowing was magnificent," Thor compliments Madelyn.

"Oh, thank you," Maddy smiles.

"Thor," He introduces himself, extending his hand.

"Madelyn," She nods, putting her hand in his. Thor kind of bows and kisses her hand.

Madelyn is very shocked by this as she pulls her hand away.

Steve starts to speak, but he is quickly interrupted by Tony coming in between him and Thor. He slaps them both on the back, inserting himself into the conversation.

"Ya know," Tony looks at Madelyn, "we could use you on the team. What do ya say, Cap?" Tony glances between Steve and Madelyn, "Glow stick, here, has got a lot of potential," Tony looks back at Madelyn, smiling.

"Madelyn, this is," Steve starts to introduce Madelyn to Stark until he is interrupted again by the billionaire:

"Tony Stark, pleasure to meet you." Tony and Madelyn shake hands. Steve leaves the two to talk, frustrated with Tony interrupting him so much.

"I'm serious though. You'd be a great addition," Tony restates, "And if you didn't want to go on missions, you could always be a night light."

Madelyn laughs, looking down at the floor then back up to Tony. He's smiling. Madelyn appreciates the sarcasm and humor; it's a nice change from the sympathy and apologetic nature of everyone.

Before continuing their conversation, Nick Fury comes up behind Stark,

"I'll take it from here, Mr. Stark. Recruitment is not a part of your job description."

"Boo, you're no fun," Stark states, before saying one more comment to Madelyn, "Seriously, kid, consider it at least!"

Stark then walks away, going to speak to the agents with the scepter.
