"Maaax. Get your lazy butt up!" I heard Chloe's voice in my ear and I yawned, slowly waking. I'd almost forgotten that I'd slept at her house. And when I opened my eyes, she was leaning in close to me, laying beside me on her bed. She grinned and I smiled at her tiredly, rubbing my eyes. "Finally. You sleep well?"

I nodded slowly and stretched a bit, watching her in silence for a while. I saw her start to sit up and pulled her closer, not wanting her to get up yet. She grinned at me and ran her fingers lightly through my hair as we stayed like that, not saying anything. It was comfortable. I could have stayed like this with her forever. I saw Chloe glance out the window and followed her gaze.

"It's raining out today," she said softly as she held me against her with one arm.

"I guess we will just stay in, then." I smiled.

Then Chloe started to pull away. I gave her a questioning look.

"As much as I love to be in bed with you, I'm going to shower." I heard her say, and I nodded quietly. "Come with?" She was grinning again.

"Are you serious?" I tried to read her expression and failed. The way she was grinning suggested she was only teasing me.. But, could she have actually been serious?

"Depends if you want to or not." Chloe shrugged.

"Well, I can't tell if you're messing with me or not." I laughed. It wasn't like there was anything to consider.. Something like that was a line I hadn't yet thought about crossing. I did like her in that way, but.. Still.

"How about I just go and you can join me if you want to, if not, that's cool." She winked and I laughed nervously as she left the room and went to the bathroom. I couldn't move from the bed after that, deciding just to wait her out while she showered. It was a risk I wasn't willing to take. Too awkward.. I couldn't help but have the thought.

With a slight groan, I laid myself back down on the bed and stared at the ceiling as I heard the shower start up. Chloe seemed to be gone for a lifetime. But I knew that was just my imagination. Why did the thought of her showering so close to me make me nervous? Just stop thinking, Max.. This was stupid.

I closed my eyes again and just continued to wait for her.

"You didn't join me," I heard her say suddenly, and I chuckled a little, my eyes still closed.

"Nope, I didn't, sorry Chloe."

"Your loss." I could heard the teasing in her tone, and felt her sit down beside me.

As my eyes opened, I felt my face get hot as I started to blush. Chloe had only bothered to wrap a towel around her body before leaving the bathroom. I stared at her for a moment, unable to tell if she noticed or not because she wasn't looking at me. She was staring out the window, watching the rain.

"Put some clothes on." I told her suddenly and grinned, hoping she wouldn't have noticed my reaction from before.

"Why should I? You said we were staying in today." She winked.

"Chloe! Don't be a pervert." I laughed.

"Oh, but sweet innocent Max, what else is there here for us to do?" Chloe watching me and I rolled my eyes at her.

"You're so bad."

"And you love it. Admit it. You do."

"Maybe a little." I laid my head down again as she continued to sit beside me. "But seriously, what do you want to do?"

"What makes you think I wasn't being serious before?"

I felt the heat rush into my cheeks again and just shrugged as she laughed. I knew she had noticed my nervousness that time. Maybe she just enjoyed teasing me this way. That would be so like Chloe.

"Stop teasing."

"If you want real teasing, I could start getting dressed right here in front of you!" I looked at her and could tell she was being serious this time.

"You wouldn't." I said.

"Oh yeah? That a challenge, Caulfield?"

"Maybe, but I'm sure you would probably do it either way."

Chloe laughed and nodded. "You're right, I would."

"But that's not teasing if I don't look." I grinned and stuck my tongue out at her.

"That's true..." She looked thoughtful. Then added, "But I kind of think you want to look."

"You wish."

"Just one tiny look couldn't hurt... Could it Max?" She was watching me closely.

"Chloe.." I shook my head. She was persistent, and so stubborn. Did SHE want me to look? I couldn't help wondering if that was what this was about. She was staring at the floor now, and she seemed not quite herself. I wonder if she thought that I'd rejected her in some way. I never wanted to hurt Chloe's feelings or anything. But I was the shy quiet girl with the camera, not the adventurous risk taker like her.

Still, she had managed to rope me into some crazier things than this... Wait. Was I actually considering this? I shook my head. Must have lost my mind. Gently, I placed my hand on Chloe's shoulder and she looked at me.

"Sorry, I don't know what I was thinking.." She still wasn't acting like herself.

Without saying a word, I wrapped my arms around her and kissed her softly for a long moment. Her kisses still made me melt inside. I love you, Chloe... As I pulled away again, I smiled at her. "Better?"

"Much better. But maybe a few more kisses couldn't hurt?"

"Don't you think you should get dressed first?" I grinned.

"Maybe. But I like it better this way!" I shook my head and she stood up from the bed before dropping her towel and going to find some clothes.

"Wow, Chloe." I chuckled and she winked at me. "So stubborn." I muttered to myself as I looked away. When she was finished getting dressed, she managed to sneak up on me and plant a kiss on my cheek.

"Gotcha."

"I wasn't even paying attention! No fair."

"Too bad, so sad." Chloe laughed and I pulled her back down to the bed.

"Someone seems happier now." I couldn't help but grin knowingly at her. And I could almost swear that this time, I saw her blush. But I must have been imagining that, I was sure of it.. I had never seen Chloe blush once. It was cute.

Chloe sat up suddenly, alert. "Shit, someone's home.." She whispered as she moved to her feet. Gently, she grabbed me by the hand and pulled me toward the window. "It's probably my step dad. Let's bail before he can find either one of us in here."

I watched as she went to grab an umbrella and we both carefully went out the window together before moving toward her truck. "So much for a nice day in."

"It's cool, Max. We can just head back to your dorm room and chill. Nobody to bother us there, I hope."
