A Mermaid Prince and A Warrior King

Prologue

Laughter rang around the room has two children, a boy and a girl, ran towards the bed and hid underneath it. The little girl giggled has the both of them hid under the bed, the boy then pressed a finger to his lips, trying to shush the little girl even though she covered her mouth, she was still giggling, then they heard someone come in.

A monkey with dark coarse fur and his hair was tied into a short ponytail, he had amethyst eyes with a wine red face marking around his eyes but the most striking features are the six colorful ears and the scar on his right eye that goes above his eyebrow down to cheek. He wore violet jianxiu style robe with light purple clouds on the lapels and black trousers and boots with purple lining. He looked around the room and his ears flicked when he heard a stifled giggle and a shushing sound, he smirked and went towards the bed discreetly.

"Hmmm~ I wonder where my kids went?" He said loudly has he heard shuffling underneath the bed, his grin got bigger has he walked towards the curtains. "Are they hiding in here?" He opened the curtains for show has he glanced down discreetly to see two tiny faces looking at him and giggling quietly, he shook his head with a smile then closed the curtain, he went to the closet, aware of the two little children watching him. "Are they in here?!" He dramatically opened the closet and sighed woefully has he heard stifled giggles, he hid a smile and dramatically exclaimed.

"My children are too good at this! Did they truly disappear or did someone kidnapped my beloved children? What am I going to do?!" He then sit on a chair and slumped against it with his hands to his face has he wept loudly. "How am I going to tell my queen that our children are missing? He'll be furious with me and never love me again!" He cried out causing the two children to leave their hiding spot and rushed towards their father then each grabbed a hold of his knees.

"Baba! We're here, we didn't get kidnapped!" The little girl said has she shakes his knee to get his attention. "Yeah, we're fine! Bama won't get mad and-and Bama will always love Baba! So please don't be sad anymore, we're sorry!!" The boy exclaimed loudly has he clutched his leg, tears brimming his eyes with the girl nodding in agreement. The dark monkey's ears flicked and he peeked at the two children clinging to his legs, he smiled widely then with a quick motion, picked up the children and hugged them to his chest.

"Gotcha!"

The father laughed has his children squirmed in his hold and laughed harder when they started protesting.

"Baba, how could you!"

"Baba, that was mean!"

"Bad Baba bad!"

"We're telling Bama!"

"Tell me what?"

All three of them turned towards the door and saw a beautiful monkey with golden fur and long hair in a braid that reached his lower back, he had ocean blue eyes with a peach colored marking. He wore a yellow hanfu dress robe with a light yellow outer robe with peach blossom designs. He smiled has he approached them and the two children managed to get out of their father's hold and rushed to their other parent.

"Bama!"

The golden monkey kneel down and the two children hugged him. The other male smiled softly has he watched them. "Aren't the two of you supposed to be in bed?" He asked playfully has he released them. He playfully gave them a stern look then ushered them towards the bed by tickling them. The two kids shrieked and giggled has they ran towards the bed with their other father chasing them, laughing. The children got on the bed and hid in the covers to hide from their mother, he snickered has he sat on the bed and tickled them through the sheets. The dark monkey laughed has he watched his family then got up from his chair. "Okay, I think they have enough, Gem." He said has he walked towards him and hugged him from behind, he giggled and pecked his cheek which prompted the other to kiss the golden male on the lips, who returned said kiss before breaking away from both the kiss and the hug.

"Alright little guppies, lights out. Time to say goodnight." The children pouted and gave their best puppy eyes towards their parents. "Can't we stay up a little longer, pleeaasee?" Their father chuckled has he tucked them in. "Maybe next time bud. Time to go to sleep." He said has he ruffled his son's hair. "Your father's right. We have a big day tomorrow since your cousins are coming to visit which means if you want to have fun tomorrow, you have to sleep." He then kissed them on the forehead.

"But-"

"How about I tell you both a story?" Their father interrupted which the children didn't seem to care when they turn to stare at him with glittering eyes. "Yes, yes! Please tell us a story Baba, please!" His daughter begged has her brother nodded with a wide smile. Their mother laughed and turned towards his husband. "I'll wait for you in our room." Then towards the children and kissed them on the forehead again with a loving smile.

"Goodnight my little guppies. I love you both so much."

"I love you too, Bama. Goodnight."

"Night Bama, love you!"

He then went towards his husband and kissed him on the cheek. "Love you, goodnight." The dark monkey smiled and kissed his husband as well. "Love you more, I'll see you later."

After that, he left.

He then turned towards the children, who stared at him expectantly, he chuckled at their expressions. "Alright what story do you want to hear tonight?" They hummed in thought and the girl smiled at him. "How about story about how you and Bama met?" The boy nodded excitedly. "Yeah, you haven't told us that story yet!" The father quirked his eyebrow.

"Are you to sure, you want know? It's very long story."

"Yeah!"

They both exclaimed excitedly, tails thumping on the bed, he chuckled and settled comfortably. "Then listen close okay?" The two nodded has they got comfortable, each holding a stuff animal; a monkey and a cat respectively. He cleared his throat and took a deep breath.

"Once Upon A Time, a mermaid prince that lived in the underwater kingdom at the bottom of the sea and a warrior king that ruled over an island paradise met and fell in love. This is their story."
