"NO!!"
"That can't be true!"
"We've known Bama, like forever!"
Mk and Bai He kept arguing fervently. Macaque had a small smile on his face has he watched them. That day was the most miserable day of his life and he still has nightmares about it. Sometimes he thinks that one day he will wake up to find out that everything was a dream and his gem was still dead but Wukong, his wonderful husband, kept reminding him that he was alive and that he isn't going anywhere.
He was snapped out of his thoughts when he heard distressed chirps and he looked up to see that the kids looked like they were about to cry, Bai He was actually crying. Macaque was about to go calm them down when the door suddenly opened.
"Liu Er? What's going on here?"
He turned around to see Wukong closing the door and walk inside. The sight of Wukong brings relief to Macaque and settle his paranoia and it seems he wasn't the only one has the kids scrambled off the bed and ran towards their mother.
"Bama!"
The kids cried out has Mk latched onto his leg while Bai He was picked up and the she-monkey nuzzled her teary face into the crook of Wukong's neck. Wukong rubbed the girl's back and wrapped his tail around the boy then stared at Macaque with a look that made the shadow monkey smile nervously.
"Husband, care to tell me why the children are still awake or why they are upset?"
Macaque chuckled nervously has he scratched the back of his head. Wukong sighed then scooped up Mk and carefully arranged his arms so that he can carry the both of them has he walks towards the bed. He shot an expectant look at his husband.
"Well?"
"You see Peaches... the kids asked for a story and they wanted me tell them the story of..."
"Of?"
Macaque sighed has he smooth back his hair. "They wanted to know how we met." Wukong's eyes widen in surprise then he looked at the kids, still looking upset but calmed down then back to Macaque and realization hit him has he gave his king a scolding glare.
"You told them about that?!"
"I was too caught up in telling the story that it slipped out." He looked down in shame has Wukong kept glaring at him. "Sorry." Wukong stared at him for a moment before sighing has he set the kids back onto the bed.
"Then you can finish it tomorrow, it's getting late."
Then the kids started whining.
"No, we want to hear the story."
"Please Bama? We'll go to sleep right after."
The kids begged to their mother has they stared at him with pleading eyes. Wukong stared at them before sighing, fully knowing that his kids won't stop until he says yes, leaving him practically with no choice.
"Oh alright."
They cheered then pulled their mother into bed with them and Wukong sat in the middle while Mk laid on his side while Bai He laid her head on his lap, both of them purring in content. Wukong smiled at them has he petted his daughter's head and let his son hugged his tail.
Macaque smiled fondly at the sight of his family. To think he almost lost the chance to have this, a family of his own, because of some genocidal crazy witch. He caught Wukong looking at him with a smile and their kids were also looking at him with anticipation.
He smiled and chuckled has he cleared his throat.
"The king, devastated at the loss of his love, filled with heartbreak and grief, didn't realize that he was falling into the witch's hands, playing right into her web of deceit, as well as others..."
