"What... What is this place?" Yeji asked Mark when she saw herself in front of a building that would come to be some sort of bar? She wasn't quite sure, since in her 19 years she had never set foot in one in her life and so she gave him a frowning look as he paid for the cab and looked at her with a smile.
"It's... It's a bar—restaurant... But we can eat here too.... No?"
"Mark... I-"
"I'm sorry Yeji, it's just that I wanted you to enjoy a cool outing and not a boring restaurant date" He smiled.
"But-"
"We'll just be here for a little while, ok? Then I'll take you home, what you say" He said smiling.
And Yeji thought about it for a moment, she had never done anything like what she was doing, she had never been to a bar or tasted alcohol in her life, but she honestly felt that she could experience some things she had never done, so, just for a little while, she would be in this place.
"Okay, but we won't leave late"
The boy nodded quickly and took her by the wrist, leading her inside the place, the place was not so dark, it had some dim lights that let her see perfectly the faces of the people who were in the place. Mark looked for a table that was almost in a corner a little bit far from everyone else, he wanted to have a little more privacy.
"What do you want to drink?" Mark asked. Yeji didn't know exactly what she could order, because well, she was totally inexperienced when it came to alcoholic drinks, so it was impossible for her to know what she could have.
"Can you order me something without alcohol?"
"Without alcohol? Oh my god Yeji, seriously? We're in a bar, come on.... Don't be a killjoy."
"It's just that-"
"Okay... I'll be right back" He said with a smile and got up from the table.
The chocolate-haired girl just lost her gaze on the bunch of people in the place, they all looked so happy, talking, dancing and laughing with their friends or partners, but Yeji knew she couldn't tell, most people were hiding behind a facade of feigned happiness and more so if they could do it with alcohol, which gave them a false sense of momentary happiness.
She never felt the need to do anything like that, but she had always wondered what it would feel like to have friends, to be able to go out and enjoy the little moments that life let her breathe.
Hardly, she did know what friendship was like with Karina and now she was discovering another friend at college, Lia.... Who would not leave her side at any time, telling her about her day to day life and also how in love she was with her girlfriend.
Pulling her out of her thoughts, Mark approached the table again, with two drinks in her hands, he placed one of a strange pink color in front of her.
"It was the closest thing to something non-alcoholic I could get" The boy sat back down as Yeji looked at the glass, then rolled her eyes as he smiled and took a sip of his drink, as if wanting to prove to her that it wasn't poison. "Don't worry, Yeji... I'm not going to poison you.... Okay?"
Yeji nodded slowly, took the drink in her hands and in an almost slow manner at Mark's gaze, she took a sip and he laughed a little when he saw her face crinkle a little.
"This has alcohol in it..."
"I know, but it has a lot less than a beer in it, so don't worry, that won't get you drunk, besides, it'll only be one, remember? But you should drink it all."
Yeji thought about it for a moment, but then nodded.
And for a moment everything seemed to go smoothly.... Between Mark's laughter and small talk between the two, everything seemed to be on the right track, as Yeji got to know a little more about the boy, even if there was no need to take the words out of his mouth because apparently, he liked to talk a lot. A little too much, for Yeji's liking.
