chapter seven

I was not looking forward to spend one week at the heerden's let me tell you I said to my sister's, who assure me I should keep an open mind I maybe surprise . I hope so.

I scribble to find the perfect gift for max before we leave for his parents place, I mean what do you buy for a multimillionaire ?  I decided to create a new eyeshadow palette and lipstick named it den of max collection,  I will show to him during Christmas Eve, I hope he likes it.
I called Kim to help me with clothes and styling. He came through for me.

I have all my luggage ready, time to meet the heerden's, he assure me every thing will be fine, it was a three hour drive to his parents place, the gate open  you can see the trees, the landscaping was green , kept up to date, I mean what do expect,  surrounded with hills, I could see Mrs heerden and there housekeeper waiting by the door, I couldn't see any car by the driveway, max got out the car first, while the housekeeper opened the car door for me, hello mother, hello son, hello Lara nice to see you again she had a smile on her face , hello Mrs heerden, mom where is dad? He went to the country club , he will be back soon, son can you show Lara around, Lara dear make you self at home.

Mrs heerden is different than the last time I saw her,she seems more friendly and welcoming, max give me the tour of the house,  one place i love at the heerden's house it there backyard , there's an outdoor kitchen, dining area, fire place, pool, it similar as to our place, but there's still some space left really open , it has palm trees, you can see the mountains, I love this view , I took a picture of it, if I live here I will not get tired of the view, you like it for your socials he said, so where do you mom host her party I asked, you will see  , the tent is normal here he pointed at open space, we went back inside the house;
Lara you must be hungry by now said Mrs heerden as we walked in, go change darling before you come down food will be ready,  she asked the housekeeper to show me room.
Mom did you run background checks on Lara as you always do ? I didn't son ; after our last meeting I had time to think , I have never heard you talk about anyone did way you talk about Lara, I know Lara will be good to you and you will be good to her, I like her, she reminded me of your twin brother if he was alive,  but asked your dad I think he did. Speaking of  the man himself is here, hello dad, hi son congratulations your mom showed me the magazine you on the cover as the business man of the year, good job son. Thanks dad it will be on the shelf next week, they just sent me the copy first.

Dad ,mom told me you did some checking on Lara,
There was nothing to find, she has no friends, but I did hear about her from someone close to her , she speaks highly of her.
So what do you guys think?
this week I will get to know her more Mrs heerden told her son.

Son I will get to know her this week too, are you happy?

Excuse me mom let me check on Lara.
When I got to the room,  the housekeeper show me the bathroom, she already helped to fill the bathtub for me ,thank you  so much am Lara, am Lauren she said, I will leave you now ,

I went into the tub, the candle and the aroma of the lavender makes me feel relaxed. It like she knows I will be tired with the drive, thank you Mrs heerden I said to myself, I think I stay there for about five minutes before standing up, I changed to a form fitting dress, should I applied makeup or just go join the heerden's with no makeup, I went with a more neutral look.

Babe ,he called out as he knocked, he opened the door, babe are alright? Am fine just finished my makeup ,
Do I look good or should I change babe?
Lara you look stunning as usual,
Should I change my dress?
Babe no need to change your dress ,my parents are going to love you, trust me babe.
Okay if you say so max. Let go and join them then , here we go, I was so sure me and Dr heerden will be close, my ex mom never liked me but his dad like me. This is different Lara, they're more Richer than your ex, am pretty sure Dr heerden can buy his whole family, take a deep breath and make a good impression.
Good evening Sir, dad this is Lara , Lara meet my dad Dr heerden, hello Lara nice to me, I have heard nice things about you, likewise sir, Mrs heerden your home is beautiful, thank you Lara,  we use the dining area outside, the view at night is nice.

We brought this house because of the veiw,  said Mr heerden,  did you guys not brought this house after when I left for college, yes we did Mrs heerden answered her son, I love the view immediately I saw it,  Lara loves the view also mom, everyone that has visited us loves the view, you can see the  mountains, said Mrs heerden's, 

So Lara what are your plans ? I heard you have a makeup line, do you want to continue to be a makeup artist to the star,Dr heerden asked me
Yes I do, I 'm planning to open a new office next year, get my makeup on to the bigger store,  employ few more people to help, I have found the office actually , we just need to finalize some few things, I replied him.
Do you have any business partner right now or investor's?
No sir, am open to partnerships ,  I have talked to alot  people and the main focus was , get a office and we can build around that.
How old are you again Lara?
Am twenty -five sir , turning twenty -six next year
I see, you remind me of max he was at this age he turn the business left to him by my father to what it's now,
Who are the people you have talked too, I may know them, do you have any of your business plan with you here,
My business proposal are on my laptop ,
Good , give it to max.
Desert is here, you guys can talk more tomorrow, Lara is here for the whole week.  After desert I excuse myself cause I was too tired. Left the heerden's to talk .
I like her drive, she's a brave girl who just meet some challenges but she tried her best to overcome it said Mrs heerden,
Mom this is one of the reasons I love her, I heard her cried once , immediately she heard me come in, she had this beautiful smile on her face, and went through the day like nothing happened said max to his parents.  Dr heerden just sat there and watch his wife and son as they talked.
Good night guys I need to go check on Lara, good night son.
When max got to the room I was fast asleep.

Spending the time at the heerden's wasn't as bad I thought it will be, I spent time bonding with Mrs heerden who now asked me to call her Tori, she took me to the country club , showing me off to her friends, showing them the makeup I did for her, we went shopping,  took some family pictures with them, I met max cousins, Tori told her sister she finally has a daughter she wanted, since her sister has one boy and a girl, they were all nice to meet except Tori sister, which I don't care for, Dr heerden was nice but you can feel it like he didn't like me that much, the person I thought would like me the most turn out not to like me and the person am scared of like me more . What a twist.
I met the CEO of the online shop I wanted to meet at the party, we set an appointment for after new year, oh I also meet Drew's parents oh I adore drew mom she is delight, it like the dad's are not my biggest fans.
I got my Christmas presents on the twenty-four, and also the day of the party from max  it was a yellow teardrop diamond necklace and earring .
Christmas morning I showed him my present which he loved and I got him and his dad a dinner reservations at exclusive country club he wanted to join (I can't take all the credit for that Tori helped me with that)
I didn't know what to get Tori, I gifted her the new makeup collection and some facemask in the basket, oh she loved it.
Tori got us a matching bag and hat , cause she invited to polo derby, I have never been to a polo derby before, so I was excited and looking forward to it. Dr heerden got me a scarf, it must be Tori who got it and ask him to give me.  
Next day we left max parent house . It was a memorable Christmas for me.
