"Lindsey?... Lindsey!... Are you sti..."
"Here, I'm still around." He said. Stevie had been trying on clothes for so long he zoned out, watching out of the window, before she had his attention again.
"I want your opinion. This dress..."
"I'm always happy to help, but clothes? That's not really my forte, you know." Lindsey wasn't given much choice, when Stevie pulled the curtain away and stood in front of him, wearing a figure hugging dress, that showed off her gorgeous feminine curves, accentuating her breasts, exactly where his eyes were right now.
"I thought you loved my eyes the most out of everything else." She chuckled, lifting his chin up with her finger.
"I did, I do, but..." Lindsey swallowed, shrugging his shoulders. "I'm a man, what can I say."
"So, what do you think then?" She twirled around and he took as much of her as he could with his eyes.
"You look amazing."
"Thanks." She smiled, then lowered her head. "Thank you for everything, Lindsey. You've been incredible to me. I will forever be in your debt."
"Don't be silly. You would have helped me, right?"
"Of course."
"That's what friends are for, Steph. I mean..."
"It's fine. Now... Let me change."
Lindsey stepped aside and let her disappear behind the curtain again. "Everything else fit you as well?"
"Yes. But it's as if you're getting a whole new wardrobe for me, Lindsey, it's too much!"
"No, it's not. We'll take all that you picked."
After Stevie emerged from the changing room, they walked to the cashier and Lindsey payed for the clothes. She thanked him again and he said she doesn't have to keep saying that. She also hugged him and left a kiss on a cheek, making him smile.
"Where to now? Are you hungry?"
"No, I think I should stop eating altogether, I've started gaining weight and it's not something I appreciate!"
"Stevie, stop. You're being ridiculous." Lindsey rolled his eyes, as they got into his car. "You look pretty damn great to me."
"You've always told me that no matter what."
"Because it's true." He started the engine and looked over at her. "You're beautiful no matter what. Now... How about some coffee?" Stevie only nodded, blushing slightly because of what he said.
"Can I ask you something?"
"Sure." Lindsey nodded, as they were walking out of a coffee place.
"Would it be a lot to ask you to take me to see the ocean?"
His eyes almost welled up with tears at such sincere request and he was lost for words for a minute. "Anything. You hear me? Stevie, anything you want, I'll do it for you."
"Only if it's okay? If you have something to do or if Lisa is expecting you..."
"No, nothing like that. Come on." Lindsey took her hand and hurried them to his car again.
They would get to the beach around the time the sun was setting, but it would still be warm and perfect. As they drove, neither one was saying much, so Lindsey turned on the radio. They listened through some classics, when a familiar melody started and Stevie immediately started crying.
"I can change the station." Lindsey said, already reaching to do so.
"No! No, let it play."
"You're crying, Steph. I don't want to see you upset."
"Brings back memories, you know... I had no idea they still played our songs on the radio."
"You'd be surprised how often actually. I don't get through a car ride without having to listen to Rhiannon or Landslide."
"Seriously?" Stevie was surprised hearing that. "Apparently, those two songs just weren't enough..." She sighed, not pulling away when Lindsey laced his fingers through hers. "I've always loved Crystal. I just knew your voice would be so much better than mine for it."
"We did some beautiful harmonies on it." Lindsey smiled sadly, thinking of how they recorded their first ever album together and then how things had changed drastically during the one and only record they did with Fleetwood Mac, before they disbanded. "When was the last time you sang?"
"It has been as long as six years."
"Are you still writing?"
"Yes, that I'm doing, but... I don't think it's worth recognition."
"Don't say that, you're a fantastic writer."
"I... Can we please not talk about it anymore?"
"Okay. If you promise to let me read some of what you've written."
"It's stupid, Lindsey, it's nothing good."
"I'll be the judge of that."
"Well, fine. Okay."
They didn't talk the rest of the time until Lindsey stopped the car in a parking lot, from where they would walk to the beach. Stevie gasped at the sight in front of her, half of the sun already swimming in the ocean, the sky painted pink and purple, warm breeze tousling her hair. Again, she couldn't fight back tears, feeling Lindsey's arm around her shoulders, as they headed towards the shore.
Lindsey stood back, watching as Stevie went into the water until it was up to her knees, her skirt soaking, but she didn't care. At that moment she was completely carefree.
She walked back to Lindsey, asking if they could sit down for a little. He wouldn't deny her a thing. "And the ocean? How long has it been since you've seen the ocean?"
"Considering where I live, too long."
"Months?"
"Years." Stevie sighed, leaning her head on Lindsey's shoulder as his arm wrapped around her naturally. He couldn't help it breathing in her scent. He pressed a kiss to her hair and rested his chin on top of her head. "I love you, too Lindsey."
