As Dustin finishes his constant habit of praying after service his eyes wanders around for something or perhaps someone.Yes it was someone because his eyes eventually settles on a beautiful lady dressed in exquisite ankara pieces sewn into a lovely dress.
She's a member of the counselling unit of the church precisely on matters concerning relationships, marriage and youths.
She was speaking to her unit head when she eventually turns towards his direction giving him a disarming smile.
Not quite long she starts coming towards his direction. She looked most beautiful today, Dustin felt his heart tighten.
Adure had caught his attention the very first time he met her at a conference organized for singles. She had actually lead in a very important discussion panel.
He got attracted to her manner of composure and approach towards questions both the good, bad, worse and most ridiculous.
Adure was already in a relationship and Dustin just knew he has to stay far away as much as possible.
Truth is they both became fast friends after meeting about a year ago outside the church.
Unknown to him that Adure wasn't really in a relationship. The said young man he usually sees around her was her nephew.
Adure was the youngest child out of seven siblings so she had become an aunt very early that you could mistake her nephews for "boyfriends" and nieces for friends.
The later was correct but not the former.
Anyway by God's Grace there could be a reason for it all.
Before Dustin could coordinate his feelings she was before him with that smile spread across her lips.
Adure was very humble without pretense because he has always been a good judge of character.
That was indeed a blessed gift.
"Good afternoon Mr. Ijioma she spoke up first startling him.
Apparently he was the only Ijioma, his parents had gone to worship with a family who had just welcomed a set of triplets for grandchildren after ten years of waiting.
The said family had married their daughter out to a blessed family but they couldn't conceive until ten solid years later.
It wasn't easy but as the scripture states..
"Many are the afflictions of the righteous but God promises to deliver them from them all"that alone encouraged the family.
His parents have known them for a very good number of years that they lost count of its number.
It was indeed a blessed one that called for a huge celebration.
Having that recollection he fishes for a response.
Before he could speak she acknowledges that he was looking stressed out and worried.
She came closer to access his features in other to ascertain her statement.
"I am very well,he responded quickly as he wouldn't want her to notice the way his heart galloped with the close proximity.
"Very well then I wouldn't want to force what is not on you",she said in "defeat".
But that didn't end there, she " puts him in a much uncomfortable way" by requesting for a Sunday lunch together.
Knowing that a negative response will discourage her as this was her very first request to him.
Some ample minutes later, roughly forty minutes later they were already seated in one of the coziest restaurant in town.
They both ate their orders in relish and ultimate satisfaction.
Once they were through and about to leave Dustin felt a bit unhappy.
This was the very first time they had a date because well that is what this was...right?
Dustin asked himself that question..
They had gotten to know each other on a very different level. And he got to know that she was the youngest of seven children and her nephew attended their Church as well.
The last statement gave him a sort of encouragement and happiness that he couldn't explain.
By the time they had left the restaurant they were in front of her gate already.
But well at this point Dustin didn't feel downcast anymore. Adure wasn't engaged or attached to any young man.
He knew within himself that he needed to act fast but then how will he do it.
He didn't want to disturb his brother in-law Gideon any further.
He wanted to figure this out without putting any sort of inconvenience on him. Yes they were deeper than friends.
But then he will not ask him no not yet even. After he had driven off from her apartment he headed to the hospital for his shift.
When he had reached the hospital he got a call from his mom. She called to ensure that he has safely arrived at his destination.
Because there was an accident at that same road leading to his place of work.
Allaying her fears he settled down to continue his work. But he couldn't stay focused Adure was on his mind than ever before.
The level of intimacy they have attained this afternoon has given him a certain effect.
It was relieving, sweet and soothing. He needed to pray and ask God if she was the one meant for him.
Or he was just having feelings as normal when one is attracted to another so much.
With time he was able to settle down and focused on work.
When he got home that evening he called Danielle-Grace to know how they were doing.
It was already three weeks since they had that conversation in their dining room.
She noticed he was a bit hesitant to really express himself.
So she just encouraged him that whatever was his concern he should take it to God in prayers.
Relieved he appreciated her and decided to do as she has said.
By the next Sunday Dustin was ready to take their friendship to another level.
He was ready to ask her some very intimate questions to know if the coast was really clear for him to shoot his shot.
But Dustin wasn't ready for what he was going to receive today.
Unknown to him that his beloved Adure was really engaged and she was to introduce her fiance to the pastorate.
When he had seen them both today his heart sank. This young man he saw her with today wasn't the same he had always see her with. He wasn't her cousin.
When she had looked towards his direction he was certain he didn't see the excitement of a happy bride to be.
He promised himself to rather pray than bombard her with questions. No not yet,he was certain that the feeling he had in his heart after prayers was real and true.
For now he would wait, watch and pray. God will not give him what wasn't his no matter what.
If Adure was his definitely she will be his.
