"There you go, saving me from out of the cold"
She woke up drenched in sweat as her heart was pounding against her chest. It was another dream, it started off with Grover being chased by an unknown figure in the shadows while wearing a dinosaur onesie.
She had heard the man's voice in her dream as she was shown all the things that would happen if he'd won. She'd seen the death of her soulmate and the suffering of her friends and family. It had been a warning he had said, a warning to stay away from his way.
Aanya slid off of her bed and grabbed her brother's jacket as she walked out of her dorm quietly, she knew that all the princesses in her dorm had valued their beauty sleep. She could've talked to Agatha but the girl deserved a break.
Aanya slipped on her brother's jacket as she walked. Her destination was unknown as she walked past the library and across towards the swordsmanship class. She knew better than to be out of her dorm this late, but she needed fresh air and a clear mind to think.
Her feet moved quickly as she walked through the same pathway to the forest clearing of the swordsmanship class. The wind ruffled her hair and the silence allowed all her thoughts to organize themselves as the stars drew patterns on the night sky.
The stars reminded her of Bob. Bob and her had met after she and her friend had gotten out of the Labyrinth, she'd fought him before and had almost gotten killed but something in him stopped him from killing her. Ever since then Bob watched over her, she'd even spent some time talking with him through Iris messages.
It was an unusual friendship that Aanya had grown to value with time. Bob, well Iapetus at the time, had helped her through her grief and loss as she felt like she was losing herself and for that she'd forever be grateful of the Titan.
She found a log to sit on as a voice broke the silence. "You shouldn't be out here alone," She didn't need to turn around to know it was Tedros because his voice simply sent shivers down her spine and caused her heart to beat uncontrollably.
"What are you doing here pretty boy?" She asked as he sat down next to her. "Couldn't sleep, you?" He asked as she thought of her dream. "Bad dream," She said as leaned against him. "Wanna talk about it?" She paused for a second before telling him about her dream.
"There was something chasing one of my friends and I watched as all of my family and friends suffered and I was helpless. Y- you were dead and I- - I heard him laugh," She remembered his name. "Heard who laugh?" Tedros asked softly as the name she said caused him to look alarmed. "Rafal,"
"Rafal," Tedros repeated the name as he looked at the night sky. "I- Rafal was the headmaster's brother, the two were the founders of the school and were the balance between good and evil. No one really knows how Rafal died but he's supposed to be gone," He said as Aanya changed the subject.
"Can we not talk about it? I kind of just want to spend time with you," She mumbled the last part hoping he wouldn't hear it but his chuckle indicated that he'd heard what she said. They were leaning against each other with the support of the log as Tedros pointed out the different star constellations.
"When I was younger my mother taught me the story and meaning behind each star, she'd always say that one day I'd find the one and give her the stars. I never really knew what it meant but I guess that was the mystery of my mother, she'd always been someone that drew people in and made you feel like you were the only person in the world," Watching Tedros speak of his mother made her heart flutter, did he ever talk about her like that? With a sparkle in his eyes and a smile plastered on his face.
"My mother never taught me about stars, although we did spend most of my childhood playing hide and seek. I do remember one of my favorite things about her, the way she smelt. . . she'd always smell like strawberries and she would always carry a hair tie on her wrist just for me," She could hear his heartbeat as she pulled away from the warmth his body provided and looked up at him.
She took a moment to appreciate the man who was her soulmate, the person destined for her. This was the love of her life, her best friend and quite literally her other half. He was a kind and considerate person who always tried to make sure she was comfortable and felt safe around him. He made her feel things she'd never known she was capable of feeling, she always believed that she won't be able to love someone and yet Tedros was proving her wrong.
"What?" He asked as she realized she'd been staring at him. "I'm just lucky to have you," She said as he wrapped his arms around her. "I don't think I'd be holding you in my arms like this darling if it weren't for our fates," She looked away from him as he lifted her chin and made her look at him, she could feel the heat in her cheeks rise.
"I'd still pick you out of a room full of men, I'd still choose to love you and take all the risks and heartbreaks that awaited just to have this moment with you. I will choose you, Tedros Pendragon of Camelot each and every time till there is no other choice left because for me, you'll always be my first choice." Her answer was honest as she touched her forehead against his.
"You'll always be my first and last Aanya Kapoor," Tedros said as he leaned closer. She could feel him hesitate as she grabbed his collar and kissed him. The kiss was gentle and passionate as she cupped his face with her hand. Butterflies exploded in her stomach as she felt Tedros pull her closer.
And it was at that moment she knew that she'd fallen completely and hopelessly in love with Tedros Pendragon.
