No one moved.
I wondered if anyone was breathing, truthfully. The air had stilled and even the executioner had moved away, his axe closer to me than him. Amaris growled in my head and when I asked why, she said nothing and closed the link.
I looked up finding the man who had just spoken. He was the only one dressed in casual clothes, and his clothes looking like he had just stepped out of a Vogue photoshoot.
How had I not noticed him till he spoke?
The guards who were meant to move in the face of danger, stood still, sweat gathering near their temples but they refused to move. I looked over finding the boy who had burst from the trees getting to his feet before he fell back to the ground and the stranger stood over his body, the boy's heart in his hands.
I gasped, and he turned to where I was on the floor. He quirked his eyebrow before nodding.
How was that possible? He had moved too quickly and despite my heightened senses, I hadn't known till the boy had dropped to the ground.
>Remember that we're weak from the wolvesbane. Of course, we wouldn't notice his movements.< Amaris said and disappeared again.
I look to where Ruben was sitting and find Hela had disappeared. He had a tick in his brows, sweat dripping down his face despite the cold weather and the bubbling of Adam's apple spelt one thing: Ruben was afraid of the man who stood there.
And he was right too when I watched the man walk to the nearest guard and plunged his fingers into his eyes sockets before yanking his eyeballs out.
The guard dropped to the ground, squealing as he held his face in his hands, blood pooling from his wounds.
Faced with great terror, not a single person moved. All they could do was wait in their seats, eyes darting from the mysterious intruder to our Alpha, who refused to say a word.
''As I said before, y'all have shitty security.''
''How did you wander this far into the pack with no one alerting us?''
''What do you want here?''
''Shut your trap if you don't want to end up like him,'' the man said.
My body shivered and it should have been from fear but I could smell the desire immediately my pheromones released. I had just been staring my death in the eyes but this man made me forget about everything that had happened. He was handsome, cute and hot all rolled up in one. Tattoos cover every inch of skin, some brutal but there was this flower crown that his shirt cut off that appealed to me. Despite the blood that was splattered on his shirt.
Grey eyes stared into my brownish almost black eyes. There was distance between us but the moment our eyes found each other's, it was like everyone had faded to the background and we were the only ones here.
I'd have preferred if he screamed, or his voice had a nasal-like tone. Maybe then whatever was happening with my ovaries would have been destroyed or not happened. But all my mind did was replay the words he had uttered. His voice was smooth, calm and a hint of deepness with salted gravy sliding down pancakes.
Amaris snickered from where she was lying down even as her tail whipped around like an excited pup.
Or a horny she-wolf.
The man moved closer to the guard, still writhing on the ground before snapping his neck.
''Alpha Trenton, what are you doing in my pack?'' Ruben asked, cutting through my inner monologue. Feeling shame creep up my neck, I turned my head away, watching the flower that would have been stained with my blood had the man not showed up dance in the wind.
