I rolled over on my pillow as I waited for the sky to turn black.
Or dark.
BUT IT WASN'T TURNING BLACK!
But that is a different thing.
I looked at the last bit of images Carla posted on her instagram.
She was my best friend when we used to live in Kansas. She went to Bahamas this month, and it looked like she was having fun.
More fun than I'll ever have.
After a while of just twisting and turning, I got up and decided to go to the nearest restaurant.
Most of the high schoolers in our school go there after school, or on the weekends.
It wasn't very far because it was exactly half way from my house to the school.
I opened the door to the diner and picked one of the booths in the back. Hoping no one notices me.
A waiter came up and asked me what I would order.
I told her the thing that me and Caitlyn usually did which was their original steak. So good!
"Great, it will be ready in ten minutes!" she said and then left. Ten minutes. That's a long time. For a hungry person.
And I was hungry.
I opened my phone and just started scrolling through social media. "Hey Evie!"
That was not my stepmother.
I turned around to a very tall man with a smirk on his face.
"W-what do you want?" I asked him. Really? Did I just stutter?
"You know," He paused and sat down in front of me on the other side of the table.
"You had some guts to slap me. Me. I wasn't in my senses then."
I started to shiver and wanted to leave as soon as possible. "I'm sorry?"
I didn't expect that to come out as a question.
I just hope I at least sounded sincere.
Then maybe, just maybe, he would leave me alone. "I am not going to leave you alone."
Those eight freaking words literally felt like knifes being stabbed into my heart. No, not just my heart. My whole body.
"What do you want?" That also came out harsher than I expected.
"It was nice talking to you..." He slanted his head, waiting for me to finish the sentence for him.
I wasn't sure if telling my name was the best idea because he was either going to forrget it (which really didn't matter), or he was going to bother me a lot.
"E-everliegh." I said. He nodded his head. "Everleigh... Moore, David, Smith, Wilson, Emers-?"
"Emerson." Right when I said that his eyes widened as if he saw the middle of the earth.
"You are that daddy's girl right?"
Well.. used to.
"No way.. catch ya later Emerson."
He got up from the booth and left the restaurant with his other friends.
And I stared at the back of the man in shock.
Who do he think he is?
The waitress came back with the food of tray in her hands, and with no care in the world I ate it up.
Forgetting about what literally just happened.
--------
"Evie!" My stepmom called as she came walking in the house with shopping bags in her hands with Genesis along side her.
"I got you dresses!" She exclaimed. Her grin was spreading from ear to ear. And for once I almost thought she liked me.
"So, you don't have to wear those boy clothes anymore."
She never liked my dressing, because as you see, she thinks I dress like a boy.
If a hoodie and jeans is considered boy clothing then I guess, I do. I do dress like a boy. But it could have also been because of the clothes she wears.
Walking around in knee length boots, and six inch heels along with floral dresses and skin showing from literally everywhere... that's some fine girl clothing.
She pulled out a white summer dress out from the shopping bag, "This one for my dear Genesis." She held it out and then threw it into Gen's arms.
"This one," It was a black sundress with white flowers and looked to come right above the knee.
"Probably my favorite out of all the ones that we shopped from. For you, daughter."
'She walked towards me and gave it to me. "Try it on, later. I want to see how you look."
She gave me a smile, and I returned it.
Wonder what all this is about...
