a series of sbi oneshots

dadza is sadza.

Dadza is sadza.

Ghostbur giggles at his own joke, but nobody laughs with him. Maybe because they can’t hear the joke since he just thought it to himself.

Everyone is sadza it seems like. Tubbo and Quackity and all of ghostbur’s friends in L’manberg. Even Techno seemed kind of sad when Wilbur went to see him.

Dream isn’t sad though. He seems like he is sometimes, when he talks to Tubbo or Phil, but Ghostbur has seen him. He searches through the wreckage of Logsteadshire and mutters and growls.

Dream is mad.

Everyone else is sad.

But Ghostbur is okay. He has Blue, not very much though, since he has to keep giving it to everyone to take away their sadness. They need a lot of Blue, but it doesn’t seem to help very much.

Phil tries to smile at him, “what are you laughing at mate?” he asks softly.

“I just had a funny thought,” Ghostbur says. He pets Friend’s wool, they just shaved him, and he is all fuzzy now.

“Yeah?” Phil asks.

“Mhm, do you want to hear it?” Ghostbur asks.

“Sure mate,” Phil sighs.

“ Dadza is sadza, ” Ghosbur says, and he laughs again.

Phil doesn’t laugh, even though he could hear the joke this time. He snorts a little bit, but he doesn’t laugh.

“Yeah mate, I kind of am, aren’t I? I’m sorry.”

“Its okay!” Ghostbur says. “Here, do you want to hold Friend?”

“No, I--” Phil says, but Ghostbur dumps Friend in his lap. Everyone likes Friend. He helps. Phil sighs and holds Friend carefully.

Friend bleats, maaa, maaa, in his little voice. He’s so cute! Ghostbur giggles.

“Thank you,” Phil says. “Why don’t you take him back now Will, I don’t really want a sheep.”

“But you miss Tommy,” Ghostbur says, tilting his head. Everyone is missing Tommy, they don’t know where he went. But Ghostbur doesn’t miss Tommy, he’ll be back one day.

Phil looks really sad. “Yeah mate, I do.” His voice is choked, and he holds Friend tighter for a moment.

Friend bleats frantically, trying to reach up to Phil’s face, trying to wiggle out of his arms.

“Oh,” Phil says, “sorry mate.” He opens his arms, but Friend doesn’t leave, he just keeps crying and trying to get Phil to look at him. “What do you want, you silly thing?” Phil asks, and now he’s smiling a bit, just like Ghostbur wanted him to!

“See?” Ghostbur says, “its okay. Tommy will be back soon, and then you won’t have to miss him anymore.”

“Ghostbur..” Phil says, and now he looks sad again. “Tommy isn’t…” he sighs, “yeah. You’re right. He’ll be back soon, I’m sure. Thank you.”

Ghostbur smiles.

Phil hugs Friend. “You’re right, he does help.”

“I’m right about a lot of stuff, people just think I’m wrong,” Ghostbur says.

Phil laughs a little bit, “uh huh.”

“I am,” Ghostbur says. “Tommy thought that there wasn’t any way to hide from Dream, but he found one.”

Phil stiffens, and he looks weird. Not sad, but not happy either.

“Why was Tommy hiding from Dream?”

“Uhh…” Ghostbur says, “I can’t remember. Anyway! Now I have Friend! Isn’t he cute?”

“..yeah,” Phil says. “He’s really cute. What was exile like for Tommy? Did Dream come a lot?”

“Uh huh,” Ghostbur says, “every day. Why?”

“Just curious,” Phil says. “What did Tommy think about Dream?”

“Oh Dream was his best friend, Tommy said so!” Ghostbur chirps. His smile fades a little bit. “I don’t think Dream was a very good friend, that’s why Tommy needed to hide from him.”

Friend shifts in Phil’s lap, looking at Ghostbur and bleating more. He sounds kind of angry, but Friend is angry a lot, its okay though, Ghostbur isn’t upset about it. Friend has been through a lot.

“Fuck,” Phil mutters. “Did Dream hurt Tommy?”

Ghostbur doesn’t like talking about this. “I’m gonna go for a walk,” he says. “Friend, do you want to come with me?” He picks up the lead and Friend bleats again and scoots closer to Phil.

“Why don’t you take him Will,” Phil says.

“No he wants to stay, you can watch him for me,” Ghostbur says.

“No, I need to do--and he’s gone.”

Ghostbur giggles.

“Hi,” he hears Phil say behind him. Friend bleats.

Phil was missing Tommy anyway, it’ll be good for him to get to spend some time with him. He can’t know until Dream is gone, but that’s okay!

As soon as Dream is gone, Tommy can stop hiding, and everyone will be so happy.

In case its not clear: Ghostbur used his weird ghosty magic to turn Tommy into friend and hide him from Dream. Tommy did not want to be turned into Friend to hide from Dream, but Ghostbur won't turn him back while he still thinks Dream is a danger. Tommy is not having a good time with this
