This one's pretty simple, but it's context leaves a bit to talk about. "I don't want ancestry.com. I want an animus!"
Oh don't we all? For real though, if modern technology were actually able to pull something like that off, it'd be an incredible breakthrough in both genetic and engineering science I have no doubt.
I've seen at least one other confession that's basically the same as this but it goes into more detail. How they hope that one day soon we'll be able to invent an animus so we can see history the way it really happened, just like in the games.
I will be honest though, do genetics actually work like that? I mean I've heard from at least one study, which may or may not be fake, that storing memories of our ancestors within our genetic code isn't out of the question.
Though, with this in mind, we'd want to be extremely careful that it wouldn't fall into the wrong hands. Not to get too political, but there's just so much corruption in big tech and big government around the world, I'm not sure how safe we'd really be if we came to possess that sort of power. I mean, we saw Abstergo try to censor or cut out certain tidbits of data they recover in the franchise plenty of times before, not to mention the likely countless number of people who were harmed in the process.
Still, with modern technology, it seems the only limit is our imagination, but we must be careful with whose we allow to run wild.
