Chapter 3-1: Jacques' End

It was days after Naruto left the Kingdom of Atlas and it would seem things are about to go to normal. However, the Schnee family in their infinite wisdom decided to test out their political power in the form of Jacques and his son.

Jacques decided to have a change of heart by allowing his son to attend Atlas Academy so that he can come up with an excuse to defame its reputation and render Ironwood and the other councilors incompetent.

Thanks to his upbringing and learning from tutors, Whitley easily passed every academic test granted to him by the teachers however it also made him extremely unpopular amongst the students here because of his snobbish and disrespectful way of treating them. Not to mention that he did very poorly in combat classes as he said outright that such a thing is beneath him.

Mayumi Saegusa is still the Student Council's president despite his father's machinations and the man had told her son that she has two more sisters and like him, her father is also on the Atlas High Council.

Mayumi also did excellent on academic tests and while she did an average performance due to her short and lithe figure, she was very popular amongst the students due to her beauty and her playful and unique nature of looking after them. It earned her Whitley's envy.

After Mayumi was finished packing her things in the Student Council chambers, she was confronted by Whitley. Mari being there to witness it.

Whitley: I must I'm impressed by your tenure President.

Mayumi: (stiffly) Thank you.

Whitley: But it could have been so much better under my guidance. I have noticed that you are making an effort to eliminate discrimination here in this school.

Mayumi: That is my goal before my tenure ends.

Whitley: Why bother with that pathetic waste of time. You have to learn to swim with the tide or drown in it. If these people can't learn to move on from their stations, that's their problem. Not yours.

Mayumi: The Faunus discrimination as well as the course ones have been in effect long before you were even here. I hope that fixing that will be my achievement as President after I left it.

Whitely: You'll drown in the attempt Mayumi and will be rendered incompetent and soon the position of President will be mine.

Mayumi: So this is what is about? My position? I've earned it fair and square.

Whitely: I propose a match here in this school. I win, you acknowledge me as the superior one and hand over your title as President to me.

Mayumi: I don't see why I should accept it. You flunked every combat test and you saw it as a barbaric waste of time.

Whitely: That's because I have the will to make my company rise greater heights and I can prove it by beating you. Do you accept?

Mayumi: No.

Whitely: No?

Mayumi: No. I have nothing to gain by beating you so I'm going. (turns to leave)

Mayumi is now walking around the halls of the academy when Whitely ran to her.

Whitely: (suddenly shouting) Mayumi Saegusa, as a member of a prestigious clan to another, I challenge you to a clan duel!

Students are heard gasping.

Mayumi: I'm sorry, can you say that again?

Whitely: You heard me. I challenge you to a clan duel or unless you're too weak to defeat a Schnee.
