Raewon, out of fear that Jaemin would read something, started to climb the branches to find herself on the one he was sitting. She propped herself up with her hands and moved closer, now sitting across from him, her knees touching his.
Jaemin watched the whole situation with a wide smile on his lips and when Raewon sat down in front of him he looked down pretending to read the diary.
Seeing this, Raewon yanked the notebook violently from his hands and staggered. Jaemin's eyes widened and he quickly stabilized her.
"Thanks." She whispered. "Don't read it ever." She lowered her head and stared blankly at the diary.
"I didn't mean it and I wasn't going to. I just wanted to tease you." His smile snapped back into place and Raewon narrowed her eyes.
"You wanted me to come up here, didn't you?"
"That's right." Jaemin said proudly, leaning back against the tree trunk.
"Stupid." Raewon mumbled under her breath as she looked around.
"What were you saying?" Jaemin brought his face close to hers. So close she could feel his breath against her skin. This made her sway again with her eyes wide open.
He grabbed her quickly by the shoulders. "Move closer or you'll fall down."
"I can't sit so close to you because it makes me uncomfortable." She said this, turning her head to the other side avoiding his eyes.
"Why?"
Jaemin was trying to tease her and her heart was trying to jump out of her chest.
"I-I don't know o-okay?" She turned her head sharply and looked him straight in the eyes.
"Calm down. I'm just kidding."
Jaemin rolled his eyes and tried to hide his smile. They sat there in silence, admiring the views or staring at each other.
To Raewon's surprise, the silence wasn't awkward. It was actually pleasant and from looking at Jaemin's expression, he must have thought the same.
"Jaemin?"
"Yeah?"
"Why is Sangwook bullying you like this?"
Jaemin turned his head and didn't say anything for a moment. Like he was fighting with himself whether to tell her or not. "I never did anything to him but he-he just...I don't know. I-I don't know why."
Even though he wasn't looking Raewon in the eyes, she could feel how much it hurt him.
She thought first that she imagined things but she was seeing the tears welling up in his eyes. While living with Jaemin, she noticed that he is good at masking his feelings so it explained a lot.
"Hey-I-I it's ok you know. He's a total douche and he disgusts me." Jaemin turned his head and they sat like that for a while, staring into each other's eyes.
"Can you tell me when he would try to do something to you again?"
"Why?" His voice sounded deep and dark.
"Because I want to kick his ass."
Jaemin started to giggle and Raewon joined him seeing her words loosen him up.
"I'm your roommate, you know. I don't want to see bruises on you everyday."
She tried to say it in a voice that sounded like she didn't care. Jaemin, noticing her change in voice, smiled widely and moved closer again.
"So you care for me huh?"
"Oh stop it already." Raewon said while pushing him away from her. Both of them bursted out laughing.
When they calmed down this time Raewon moved closer to Jaemin and he froze waiting for her next move. She wrapped her arms around him and pulled him towards her, forgetting that they were sitting in a tree.
Fortunately, they both kept their balance. Jaemin noticing that it's been a few seconds and she didn't break the hug, he also wrapped his arms around her and rested his chin on her shoulder.
"Feels nice huh?" This time Raewon started teasing.
"Could be better." Jaemin said nonchalantly. She snorted and let him go.
"Lesson is about to start, are you going or will you be late again?"
"This time I will go." Jaemin swiftly made his way downstairs.
"Oh wow. I didn't know you'd ever say that."
"I'm full of surprises." He wiggled his eyebrows and offered Raewon a hand to help her down.
"Thanks. Let's go."
"The last one cleans the room next week." Jaemin started to run towards the entrance.
"Hey! Now that's not fair!" Raewon screamed but he didn't listen to her and kept running.
"I'm gonna make him pay one day."
Raewon started running and hoped she'd catch up with him because she didn't feel like cleaning their room by herself for another week.
