Jaemin didn't know what to do to get her attention so he slightly pulled back her bra strap and kissed her bare shoulder.
Raewon felt this gesture and shuddered while turning around sharply.
"W-what are you doing?"
"I-I wanted to get your attention somehow. I'm sorry, Rae."
"It's fine." She said it in a whisper, bowing her head.
"Were you really that scared about me?" Jaemin asked with concern in his voice.
"Yeah I was...since I saw Sangwook pushing you aggressively in the cafeteria, I was mad at him and when I saw your bruises...well I suddenly felt your pain. It may sound silly but it hurt me too and..."
"I understand."
Jaemin interrupted her with compassion in his voice. When she looked into his eyes, she saw the emotions that have been hiding through all those years and tears welled up in her eyes.
"I don't want them to hurt you further Jaem." Raewon whispered, shaking in place. She felt the water turn icy cold and her lips turned to purple.
Jaemin, still standing in place, saw her condition and shed a few tears that flowed freely down his cheeks. He wasn't going to wipe them off. He let Raewon see how he really felt. Who he really is. Defenseless and vulnerable.
"Come here."
Jaemin opened his arms wide. Raewon immediately understood the gesture so she walked over to him and threw her arms around his neck.
He wrapped his arms around her back and began to run his fingers over her bare skin. Feeling the comfort in her arms, Jaemin snuggled his nose in the crook of her neck. She could feel his calm breathing and his fast beating heart.
It made her do something she didn't expect herself to do. She also snuggled her nose in the crook of his neck but her lips gently touched his skin sending him a compassionate kiss. Jaemin flinched slightly at her gesture but didn't pull away. Instead, he hugged her even tighter. They both forgot that they were standing in the water practically clinging to each other like leeches to the human skin.
After a few minutes, they pulled away from each other and stepped out of the water. Jaemin took a towel from his bag and tossed it to Raewon. Then he pulled out a towel for himself and began to dry himself.
Once they both dried themselves and dressed up, Jaemin walked over to Raewon who was about to dry her wet hair with a towel. "May I?"
He asked innocently pointing at her hair. She nodded with a smile and handed him a towel, sitting comfortably on the grass. He sat behind her with his legs surrounding her and started to dry her hair.
"I'm glad you took me here."
"Me too. It was nice."
When he finished drying her hair, he got up from the ground and held out his hand to help her up.
"Let's go back." Jaemin suggested and Raewon nodded. They made their way back in silence, still holding hands.
