Love Is Just The Beginning

First Day Of High School

It was the first day of Freshman year. Mother had just dropped me off and had given me the speech of "Have fun. Don't be nervous." It's just like "oh I'll have an awesome day at my new school where I don't know anyone or anything." But that didn't last long because right when I got out of the car the Welcoming Committee came or more specifically,Amber who was very hyper and wouldn't stop bouncing up and down. "Hi!My name is Amber.Whats your name?" she asked quickly. "Annie" I said quietly. "Oh I'm sorry did I scare you?" Apparently she isn't dumb I thought to myself. "Um no" I said quickly trying to hide the shaking in my voice. As I was walking inside with Amber at my side I noticed a cute boy staring at me and I was staring at him to. But before I could ask his name Amber quickly pulled on my arm and brought me back to reality. "Did you hear a word I just said Annie?" she asked. "Oh I'm sorry I zoned out what did you say?" Amber didn't even try to hide her annoyance when she spoke. "I said that you mostly have every class with me in the morning but in the afternoon your on your own." It's not like I felt bummed or anything that I didn't have her in any of my classes in the afternoon. But I had to cover up my happiness when I spoke. "Well then how will I find any of my classes if I won't have you to walk me to class?" I asked. "Oh don't worry I'm sure I could find someone who has the same classes with you in the afternoon. Just point someone out and we'll go check their schedule.Okay?" It was pretty clever and I just couldn't help myself. She said anybody so I pointed to the boy with the dreamy eyes. "Good choice Annie lets go check with him." she said and grabbed my arm and dragged me over to where he was talking with his friends. "YOOHOO!" Amber yelled "Excuse us." I said politely. "Hey Kaleb. Can I see your schedule please." she asked. "Sure" he replied while looking at me. "I'm sorry but I don't have any classes with Amber in the afternoon and your the first person I saw and we decided to see if you have any afternoon classes with me and we were gonna ask if you do -" Amber cut me off when she said he had all afternoon classes with me. "Kaleb since I have classes on the other side of school could you take Annie to her classes and show her where they are?" "Yeah I'm sure I could but for a price." He smirked. "What do you want? Money?" "No something much more valuable like Annie's number." He said while looking at me. "Im sure that can be arranged when I get a phone which should be soon so I'll get to you soon." I said but I could tell my face was flaring up while I said that and it didn't help that Kaleb's friends were woo-ing all the while we were talking. "Okay I can wait." he said "but just make sure I get it soon." "Trust me it will be soon." Amber butted in. And before I left I turned my head and Kaleb was looking right at me and he wasn't even moving.
