Leo ended up getting a bagel from a random place and scarfing it down. He proceeded to bike down the road. He was on a mission; the beach was his endgame.
The bike rested on the garage door while Leo changed into swim trunks. Everybody else was busy doing something. His mother was at a wellness center for a massage, Wayne was making business calls in his office, and Gavin was busy doing Imani. He did not have any friends on the island, so all he had was himself.
He glanced in the mirror to do an outfit check. The coral pink made his body look tanner. Leo got into a trance and started gazing at his own body in the mirror. He was undeniably ripped. The memory of the girl from the diner was put in the back of his mind.
Leo grabbed a beach towel and sunscreen with only twenty-five SPF. He carried it all in his hands as he left his room and walked down the stairs. His ears tried to ignore the sounds from the second floor. There was a muffin left and he added it into the mix. Just like before, he threw his stuff in the basket and grabbed the bike. One hand held the muffin while the other assisted him onto the bike and turned the handle towards the gate. He stormed past the guard and down the road, all while eating the muffin.
There was only one beach he would go to. It was only a couple blocks down and to the right. He pushed like his body needed to be there as soon as possible. It was merely eleven in the morning. That meant plenty of time to get a decent tan. A car of girls was driving by him with music blasting.
One of them rolled her window down and shouted, "Hey! Where you going?"
"To your mom's place," Leo shouted. "Can you bring me to her?"
The girls in the car laughed. This was the kind of response he wanted. They waved, then proceeded to drive past. He turned to the right. The road was filled with colorful houses. He took another right and there was a line of cars alongside the sand. He had a bit to go before he got to the bridge. Specifically, the bridge where everybody jumps off and into the water. Gavin and him used to jump off the old wood for hours. It had been a while since he had even seen it, let alone jumped off of it.
When the bridge was in sight, he picked up the pace. A bunch of people were leaning against the bridge or jumping into the deep water. Those that jumped were crawling on the boulders to reset. Leo glanced over his shoulder and crossed the street. He rolled the bike to the other side by the sand. There was a wooden bike rack waiting for him. He threw himself off the bike and pulled it through the sand. He shoved the wheel in and proceeded to lock it in with the rope. With swift movements, he grabbed his items and walked down the sandy trail.
The beach was slightly crowded. People were tanning, swimming in the shallow waters, and kids were trying to catch the small fish by their feet. The water was still. The green and blue water was translucent, so much so that the shells were very visible. The sun made the sand steaming hot, so everyone without shoes on would run for the water.
Leo held out his towel and placed it down. He was fairly close to the water, but far enough where his items would not be taken adrift when the wind would pick up. He placed his shoes on the bottom corners, then threw his phone and wallet onto the cotton. The sunscreen bottle was scolding hot to the touch, so Leo had to act quickly. His fingernail slid under the lip and popped it open. His hand held the body of it and grasped tightly. The white substance oozed out and he kept going until it was enough, then sealed the lid. His hand rubbed against each other until they were both coated, then he lathered it against his body. His abdomen glowed as he spread it around his stomach. Anybody with eyes could see every debit and edge of his muscles. He brought his hands to his shoulders, then his arms. He made sure to get every inch even though he never really burnt under the sun. He was lucky enough to have his mom's tanned skin.
