The space around Alex became black and white. Alex was presented four choices. One said "Fight", One said "Act", One said "Item" but was crossed out, and one said Mercy.

Alex: Uh... Flowey? What do I do?

Flowey: I don't know... RUN!

Alex tried to run but couldn't. It was as if he was walking in place.

Alex: What do I do?!

Alex tapped around his body only to see a Gold-Crimson colored heart in his chest.

Alex: This is my soul! I learned about this! Red is Determination but what does that gold bit mean?! It doesn't resemble Justice at all!

Ad if Alex had someone choose for him, Text appeared in front of him.

Alex's soul started to glow and the buttons "Fight" and "Mercy" Started to glow. They shattered like glass in flint of him and reformed into a solid gold button. It read "Ult. Mercy".

Flowey: That's some soul trait you got Alex. Now use the damned thing!

Alex quickly pressed ultimate mercy. In a matter of seconds he felt his energy drain from him but golden bullets formed around the amalgamation while he did.

Flowey: My friendliness pellets?

The bullets stabbed into the amalgam all at once. Once it happened, The amalgam stared glowing until it separated to a bird and frog.

Frobbit: Ribbit. (Oh my God! We're Free! It's been so long! Thank you kind sir and your flower compatriot for separating us! We are eternally in your debt for as long as we live.)

The bird chirped in happiness. Alex was in a horrible amount of pain from using Ultimate Mercy so he couldn't really say anything.

Flowey: I believe my friend here is trying to say "Get us out of these ruins!"

The Frog and Bird bit Alex's jacket by the hood and dragged him through the ruins as he was very weak from using Ultimate Mercy. By the time they were about to leave, Flowey asked Alex a question.

Flowey: How'd you do that Ultimate Mercy back there?

Alex: I think my soul did it. I don't even know how to explain it. I don't know what my soul trait is. I don't even know how I fell down here.

The frog stopped and boosted him up.

Alex somehow understood what Frobbit was saying.

Alex: Thank you. For now, Go to the bottom of the hole that leads to the underground. I doubt anyone is there.

The Frobbit and Bird nodded and went towards that direction.

Flowey: Ready? Toriel might kill you.

Alex: Don't worry Flowey. I should be able to pass her.

Flowey: Your Cockiness can get you killed.

Alex: It could... but as long as I can get out of here, I'm okay with it.

Alex opened the door. Awaiting the next challenge.
