So this book may have been the hardest one to actually write about because survival skills are not one of my talents. So remembering things I pulled from say the hunger games and girl scout camping were my main knowledge.
However with every single book I write I do extensive research prior to make the book feel as real as possible.
The Alaska idea seemed so cool to me because I literally love Alaska. I did a report on it as a child and fell in love (also Balto was my favorite movie growing up). Jimin I'm pretty sure said he wanted to perform there too. Alaska especially my favorite town Utqiagvik formally known as Barrow seemed like a perfect place to send them, the only issue you can not just drive to Utqiagvik or almost anywhere in Alaska. A lot of places you need to fly to get to the other. Theres so much beautiful wilderness there.
However moving on Arctic pizza is a real pizza place in Utqiagvik and behind it is a memorial park. (Perfect place to hide a lab). Timing how long it's take to get to each place was nearly impossible so I guestimated 😂😂😂
The inspiration to this 100% came from spring day. And truly I think the song worked well. (Of course I have a long playlist of songs that helped me write and feel what the characters could possibly be feeling.)
