Over the next few days Mira refused to acknowledge or talk to Xander. She even turned her back to him at night in the tent. He made no effort either to smooth things over or tell her the truth. Mira was done waiting patiently and decided she wouldn't budge on this until she found out the truth.
Samuel talked her head off about almost every single day so she didn't lack company. That being said her heart ached and loneliness seemed to envelope her with each passing night spent in dead silence.
Xander laid in silence next to Mira unable to sleep. Tomorrow they were going to move on to the next village. He listened to her gentle breathing indicating she was sleeping peacefully. This she-wolf was unbelievably stubborn and couldn't see he was trying to protect her from a cruel truth. What she said at the end of the argument cut him deep. Is that how she sees me? As a heartless murdering monster? If that's how she sees me now how will she react when she finds out I killed her father? Not only killed but literally ripped his head off his shoulders...Great Odin give me wisdom on what to do. I'm so unsettled by what she thinks of me and I've never cared about what people think of me. Goddess Freya release me. I need to let her and these feelings go. Letting these feelings linger in me will only hurt me because she will never want me the way I want her. How do I want her? Hell even I'm unsure of what I want now. Shit.

After a week and 3 days of work, the village had been fully repaired and prepared for winter. The crew loaded up the trucks and set out for the next village.
Samuel told Mira this place was a bit farther than the last and one of the largest villages after the Royal's village. Mira sat in the back of the truck as usual but this time with a book to distract her mind from the hours of boring travel.
On the second day Xander announced they were going to only stop to pee and grab some dried meat to eat. He wanted to make it to the next village hopefully late that night. Apparently there was a lot of work to do there and it would be best to get there as soon as possible.
Mira only knew this because Samuel translated for her. The jerk of a Commander didn't even bother to explain to her what was going on.
During the fifteen minute afternoon stop Mira hopped off and made a dash for the bushes. Holding in her pee for hours was torture. These men had much bigger bodies and bladders apparently. Finally after relieving herself she stood up and stretched. A family of bunnies caught her eye near a tree stump. She stopped for a moment to watch them run around. They looked so happy and carefree. I wish I was a bunny.
"Let's move out!"
Mira heard a voice shout something and then heard the trucks roar to life. Wait, are they leaving without me?!? Mira started to run and opened her mouth to shout.
Suddenly there was a loud snap and something clamped around her left leg. It caused Mira to stumble and fall. Her head cracked onto a rock and everything went black.

Mira tried to open her eyes but everything was hazy. The sun was almost setting and the forest was getting dark. She raised her hand to her head and felt something sticky stuck to her hair and face. Blood. With her arms she pushed herself to at least sit up. When she did she saw why her left leg was absolutely throbbing.
