7:40pm.
Najma was laying down on the couch in the living room watching T.V when her phone started ringing. She looked at the screen, seeing Nabil's name made her wear a mischievous smile. She had vowed to be petty by not picking his call too.
She checked what time she called him , It was 5:50pm and he didn't return the call until 7:40pm. So she patiently waited until it was 9:40pm , She called back.
Haidar was playing on the floor , She made Haidar sat on the sofa. Because she knew she was so exasperated that she could kick him unintentionally. She hates how much Nabil had that kind of effect on her though she's naturally clumsy.
"Hello." She announced trying not to sound excited, she's still suppose to be mad at him. "Hi my Rose" She rolled her eyes and stomped her feet excitedly and bite her inner cheeks. She loved the pet name he calls her with! She knew If Basma was here she'd have seized her phone by now. She wished she could hate him! After all that transpired between them at the date, She's not supposed to even speak to him again.
"Sorry I missed your call earlier on, I was....." She didn't allow him to finish his sentence before she cut in, "Look , I seriously don't care what your reasons are, It's not like I enjoy talking to you anyways." She declared as a soft chuckled escaped her lips. Now she felt her slapping herself. It was evident that Najma was saying the opposite of what was in her heart and her chuckle just exposed that.
"Why did you feel there was a need to send your security to come get me at school? How did you even know I was in the school? Wait ! Are you spying on me?" Najma squinted placing her right hand on her waist.
She gave him no chance to speak, "I thought I made It clear to you that I want nothing to do with you? Stay away from me! You'll never get what you want from me! What part of stay away from me do you not understand?" She wanted to sound as harsh as she could, but her subtle voice made It impossible for her to sound harsh.
"And that's what I've been doing. I could have come to get you myself, but I respected your wishes and sent someone instead. You said I pose a threat to you, Remember I told you I'd always make sure you're safe no matter what?"
By now Najma's hopeless romantic side wanted to scream with joy ! This is a damn book worthy moment! He's trying to be her protector at all cost. Najma felt defeated, But she wouldn't dare give in just like that. She had to stand on her words.
"Thank you, but I really don't need your securities, I was doing fine before we met, So nothing would change." She declared.
"Mummy, Sleep." Haidar clutched the edge of her dress, rubbing his eyes." Just give me a minute here Baby." She gently placed Haidar on the sofa.
"So you have a baby? With who? I think I know, With the guy I saw you with at 355 right?" Najma was too dumbfounded to speak. She needed time for her brain to accelerate all what he just said. First, she needed to accelerate how he just sounded like her while talking. Then the fact that he mentioned seeing her with a guy at 355. No way! He saw them the other day? Despite how she tried to avoid that. "Then that means you're following a married woman?" She asked , "No, But a divorcée" He replied. He knew the looks on her face right now would have been epic and dramatic.
"I'm not having this conversation with you anymore. Good night! And yes, keep your securities away from me!" She hung up pouting.
Immediately she hung up, she carried Haidar along with her and put him to sleep. She was now wishing she didn't hung up on him, She wanted to talk more with him. Should she call him back? But to say what? Maybe explain who Abbakar is?. Najma bite her lips and sighed. She wished he would call back, but his "personality disorder" as she termed it won't allow him to call back.
