18: Getting along well

"Just stop being stubborn and eat before you die of hunger. I'm not prepared to see a corpse." Nabil declared. He was really getting fed up with Najma's behavior. He wished he could tell the kidnappers to keep him in another different place. He hated the fact that he told them they're married. So he has to tolerate her. After all she got kidnapped because of him. So he has to tolerate referring her to the name he hates the most in the whole world "My wife".

"What if they poisoned the food?" Najma stared at the plate and wondered what kind of kidnapping is this? They served them White rice, beef sauce and bottled water.

"I'm talking to you ! Won't you even say anything."She felt like using her elbows to beat Nabil till he passed out. How can he be ignoring her just like that? She turned and looked at the other corner of the hut where Khadija and her husband were behaving all lovey dovey with each other. They were taking turns in feeding each other. This convinced her that the food is not poisoned.

She stared at the plate and then looked up to Nabil, So she has to share a plate of food with him now? He passed the spoon he used in taking his first bite over to her, She hesitated to collect it at first but later on she did. She took a bite after cursing the kidnappers beneath her breath for making her share a spoon with Nabil.

"We just kissed." She heard that out of the blue, making her open her big appealing eyes to look at him. Thought it was partially dark, he could still see how her eyes highlighted her face. "Pardon, What did you just say?" She asked not because she didn't hear him, but she wanted him to say it again. But Nabil collected the spoon from her and continued eating without saying a word. You could swear he wasn't the one she was talking to.

Nabil's attitude sometimes convinced her that he is possessed by a jinn, it's more than just a personality disorder.

"Your lips kissed this spoon, and my lips kissed the spoon too" He declared after she gave up on expecting a reply from him. "You're such a flirt! We're in this situation and yet you......" She let her words trailed off as she shook her head looking away. Deep down she was happy. If Basma was here , She would have declared this a book-worthy moment. She wondered how Basma must be shattered without her, Daddy, Mummy and Haidar her favorite little human. She lost her appetite thinking about them and looked away.

"Don't tell me you're already full?" He asked, "I lost appetite thinking about how my best friend and Family are faring without me . I just don't eat that much though." Nabil could see how broken she was from the inside. Even though she wasn't crying, he knew she was bleeding inside. Maybe she's just one of those humans that finds crying hard. But she looked like a cry baby. If someone told him She'd find herself in this situation and still maintain her cool, he'd have never believed it.

"Do you think they know we've been kidnapped?" She asked as she turned around to look him. "We've been missing for over 24 hours so definitely they know we're missing even if they haven't figured out that it's a kidnap. From my own end, I'm sure they know." He replied.

"You're missing your Mum right?" She asked. He didn't reply her and she wasn't expecting one. She knew how much he loves his mum and she witnessed how his mum loves him too. He was just trying to be a strong man but he looked truly disturbed. He knew Maami would be greatly affected by his absence.

"Where are you going to?" Nabil asked after Najma stood up, "I want to take my night shower, I feel so dirty! Yuck! I've been wearing the same outfit for over 24 hours." Najma declared in disgust as she sniffed herself. "Do you think this is some kind of play or what? We've been kidnapped! They didn't bring us here to give us some VIP treatment." He declared.

"You can say whatever you want to say. But I can't sleep without having my night shower." Najma stomped her feet as she tried reaching for the door. Nabil got up in time and pulled her back. "Are you crazy? You already know you're in danger right? Remember the guy that touched you inappropriately earlier on? Imagine what he would do if you go to take a bath outside alone." Nabil deliberately said all these to try and scare her off from taking a bath and from all indications it worked. "You're right. But I feel so dirty! I wanna go back home!" She wailed , as usual with no drop of tears in her eyes.
