Canada had counted every single second until he could call Russia. In all honesty he was overthinking it a bit. The night he had returned from the park he knew not to call them but in his mind he kept thinking things like "Well he said nothing about texting.." or "What about just one little voicemail? Technically that's not calling him right?"

But he hadn't actually acted on any of those thoughts, he knew better than that so he just decided to follow the Russians instructions and wait.

Today was the day after he had received their phone number, so he planned on calling them later tonight.. maybe around 8 or so? Or would they be asleep by then? No. They clearly didn't get that much sleep.

He chuckled to himself, lost in the thoughts of what he'd say to them when they finally got to talk as he prepared breakfast for himself.

He began talking to himself to simulate how he dreamed their first conversation over the phone would go.

As he got more into the fantasy he stopped paying attention to what he was doing, happily pretending that he was speaking to Russia.

It made him feel so very happy..

•••

Russia was surprised the Canadian hadn't disobeyed his commands and called him the night he gave them his number.

But he guessed they were just a good listener.. and followed orders well. That was one good thing about them.

Right now he was walking to his brother, Latvias, home to talk about something with them. Although Latvia was arguably his most annoying sibling he did seem to be the only one that didn't have a problem with Russia.

Latvia was annoying because he always needed to get his opinion into conversations that didn't really need it. He also acted like a stupid teenager so that was definitely another thing that really rubbed Russia the wrong way.

He guessed the second part was a little more excusable than the first.. after all Latvia was younger than Russia so maybe he just saw them as immature by default.

He then remembered something.

Latvia also made fun of him for his dragon features. Their father had always just said "It's because he's jealous of you. He's mad he didn't get cool wings and horns.."

Russia always considered his fathers words to be true, but now he wasn't so sure. Maybe Latvia was just an asshole, and not jealous at all. Younger siblings did have a tendency to be rude. And Russia had only been 12 when Latvia started the "bullying" so maybe he also didn't remember things quite right. That was all in the past though.

As he reached his brothers house he'd stare at the door, a bit nervous. He had something very important he wanted to talk about with his brother but he didn't know if they'd laugh at him for it..

He considered walking away and pretending that he never even thought about visiting his brother but before he could walk off the door opened and Latvia peeked out at him.

"Hi- oh it's you Russ! Come on in."

Russia now had no choice but to follow the other inside and find a seat on their old recliner which had been a gift from one of their other many siblings. Russia couldn't remember which one though..

"What brings you around here?" Latvia said, plopping down on the couch. "You don't visit often."

Russia looked down. "I uh- got something I wanna ask you- you've had good friends before right?"

Latvia laughed. "Oh yea man- hundreds in fact, I get so many bitches-"

Russia interrupted them. "Latvia be serious, I'm trying to have a real adult conversation with you." Latvia sighed and rolled his eyes at the other to which Russia just frowned disappointedly. "Yea, obviously I've had friends before. Why?"

"Well- there's this uh-" Russia stopped to consider what he'd say next, he couldn't say "guy" because then Latvia would start a whole conversation about how gay Russia was or something and Russia just wasn't in the mood for his immature and borderline offensive jokes.

Russia began speaking again after a moment. "This um.. girl that I-"

Latvia chuckled, rudely interrupting the other. "You like chicks? I'm not buying it-"

"LATVIA!- LISTEN TO ME YOU DUMBASS."

Latvia finally just shut up and listened to his brother.

"This isn't about love, it's just about friendship, ok? There's this- girl.. that keeps following me around. And- she makes me feel.. funny. And those funny feelings are- scary. So I'm rude to her but- I feel bad about it. Am I- getting weak? I mean- I've never felt bad about snapping at a person before-"

Suddenly Latvia broke into a huge fit of laughter, tearing up. "AHAHA- You're in fucking love!- YOU! I can't believe it you're in love-"

Russia growled angrily as his brother continued making remarks about how unbelievable it would be for Russia to fall in love. "I am not in love. And even if I was that's not so damn insane that you'd have to scream and laugh about it like a damn child. Besides, she's- annoying- why would I fall in love with her. She means well though.. but she's- annoying as fuck."

"Yea buddy, she's so annoying that it's got you head over heels for her.. But in all honesty I'd say just act how you feel. "Friendship" or otherwise just be a gentleman and treat her how you really feel about her. If you wanna be nice, then be nice. Being a dick isn't gonna get you anywhere with anyone."

Russia stood up, immediately ready to leave now that he had finally squeezed some actual advice out of his immature brother. "Thank you. You were so helpful."

"Pf, yea, anytime." Latvia said with a huge grin on his face, waving bye to his brother as they left.

As soon as they were out the door Latvia spoke to himself.

"He's totally in love." He said to himself before adding another thing to his sentence. "With a guy obviously.. heh.."

•••

Later that night Russia received a call from Canada.. the call lasted a good hour or so. Russia took his brothers advice, actually being kind to Canada and by the end of the call he had even forgotten about his original plans to block the other.

He'd never been so nice to a person.. but when he was nice to Canada it made him feel very good on the inside. Warm and tingly..

Maybe he could finally have an actual friend.

He smiled to himself as he thought about it. It would be nice not to feel to lonely, and to have someone he could talk to.

Yea, that would be very nice.
