Russia was currently on his hands and knees, soaking up gallons upon gallons of tap water off his kitchen floor with multiple towels. He didn't seem to be enjoying it very much.

It was quite clear what had happened to cause such a mass amount of water on his floor. His sink had overflowed while he wasn't paying attention and basically flooded his kitchen. He was growling and complaining out loud to nobody in particular as he cleaned up the water, blaming anyone but himself for his mistake.

First he blamed the sink itself even though it wasn't sentient, then he blamed whoever built the sink even though they weren't there in the room, and finally he blamed the world because quote: "Maybe if the world liked me a little bit more shit like this wouldn't always happen to just me." Even though stuff like that did happen to other people. And the world wasn't just out to get him.

Sometimes he felt that way though. Reality and fate seemed to be especially cruel to him in particular, and he felt like he had been personally selected as the whole universes punching bag.

That was also why he was so cold and mean.. most assumed he was just born that way, full of hate and malice. But nobody is born with hatred in their heart. People develop those feelings over time. In Russias case these feelings were the result of believing nobody really cared for him, and that nothing would ever get better.

And so far nothing ever had gotten any better..

Maybe Canada could be the start of that? No. He shook the thought out of his head rather quickly.

Canada could be a good and close friend, but in his mind having a friend wouldn't fix his life. It would only be like putting cheap tape on a broken vase. It would hold it together for a bit, but eventually the tape would get weak and leave the vase in pieces again. And it would be rude to put the pressure on Canada that comes with being expecting to fix someone's life.

He sighed, his arms getting sore from the constant back-and-forth motion he was making with them. He was quite strong and resilient usually, but recently as he got less and less sleep his body seemed to be noticeably weaker. He knew he wasn't horribly sick though, just physically and emotionally tired.

He soaked up the last of the water, threw the towels he had used onto the floor near his washer and walked off to his bedroom where he threw himself onto the bed, wincing in discomfort as he landed on his rock hard mattress.

He knew it wasn't healthy to spend 8 hours of the day just laying in his bedroom, staring at the ceiling but what else was there to do? He had no motivation to leave his house and no money either way. He hadn't been actually going to work as much as he should recently.

He decided he'd definitely go tomorrow and try to get back to going regularly. He made mediocre amounts of money sure, but some is better than none at all. Even if he'd have to work his ass off helping snobby people all day to get it.

As he trailed deeper into all of his thoughts he'd get tired and soon sleep would overcome him, usually he didn't go to sleep at this time but maybe it would be good for him...

Canada was incredibly restless. All he could think about was talking to Russia again tonight and he had been checking the time every few minutes just so he'd know when the time had come to call them again.

He planned to call on the same time as last night, 8 PM. Russia wouldn't be asleep by then he assumed and he was very eager to talk to the other more.

He made himself a quick snack for lunch, just a sandwich and some crackers which wasn't what he normally ate at all but he wasn't very hungry at the moment.

Then to pass the time he watched television, still checking the time as often as he could. He wasn't going to skip talking to the other.

By the time the clock hit 8 PM Russia had already woken up about 10 minutes prior so he was able to answer the phone when Canada called. Although he was still just laying in his bed. He noticed they had called on the same time as yesterday, but brushed it off. Figuring the Canadian had just decided on a schedule for calls. He was a very busy country after all.

"Hello?" He said in a groggy voice that sounded as though he had only woken up seconds ago, sitting up in his bed and cracking his back before sighing with relief as his spine felt a bit better.

"Hi Russ- you sound tired." Russia rubbed his eyes. "That's because I am tired. I just woke up I don't know like, 10 minutes ago?" He said, standing up and going to his kitchen to pour himself a glass of milk and get something to eat. "Oh- do you want me to leave you alone so you can go back to sleep or?-"

"Nah.. I'm fine, I'm getting a snack right now so I should feel a bit more awake after I eat." He said, licking off the substance on the butter knife he had used before tossing it into the sink. "Hm. What're you making?" Russia paused. "You'd uh- think it's weird."

"Try me." Canada said, taking a sip from the glass of water he had on his nightstand. "Uh- y'know that chocolate spread you put on sandwiches right?" He said. "Yea." Canada said back.

"And Y'know whipped cream? Well- I put chocolate spread on bread and then I put whip cream on the other side and eat it that way-" Canada giggled. "That's not weird Russ, it sounds good actually." He said.

Russias cheeks were softly tinted purple as he began to gently blush. "Uh- thanks. It is- you should try it." He said, taking a bite of his food and going to his room again with his food and milk. Now that he thought about it.. Canada had a beautiful voice. A very calm, sweet voice but still with an attractive twinge of sass that revealed a small shard of the Canadians personality that he usually kept hidden.

The conversation lasted longer tonight, and Russia seemed to enjoy it even more thoroughly than he had the night before. He actually felt very happy speaking to the Canadian.. and just hearing their voice seemed to make him feel a little warmer on the inside.

But he still tried to convince himself that he obviously wasn't in any kind of love.. even if it was so obvious.

He was just happy to have such a good friend.
