In This Together *Casualty*

Ch. Seven

Kenzie was stressed. Not only was Iain in the hospital. But so was her mum. Iain had tried to kill himself while she was pregnant with their baby. Now her mum had been admitted.

Kenzie wasn't stupid and she knew how something had happened to her mum

She walked into her mum's room. She looked to her and smiled.  "Are you okay?" Kenzie asked.

Kate looked to her daughter and smiled. "I'm fine. I know Ella has been talking to you. But you know your sister. And you know what she is like. You don't need to worry. I just fell down the stairs."

Kenzie sat in the seat next to her and looked to her. She knew how Ella did like to worry. But she also knew her mum. And how good that she was at hiding things.

Kenzie knew that she and Ella had spent their whole childhood seeing it.

"You can't lie to me about this mum. I know you.  Ella does worry. But you know that she has a reason to worry. She thinks that you're in danger and so do I. I can see how you're covering up the bruises. It's more then falling down the stairs. I don't think that happened. Talk to me mum. Tell me what happened and don't lie. My boyfriend tried to kill himself. He won't talk to me either. Don't you start."

Kate looked to kenzie and smiled as she placed a hand on top of her daughter and smiled. She could see how much that Kenzie was struggling with everything.  "I'm sorry."

"It was him wasn't it? The new boyfriend?" Kenzie asked as Kate nodded. Kenzie looked to her mum and smiled

She felt her heart break as she looked to her mum and smiled. "It's going to be okay. I promise," she said.

Kenzie sat in the staffroom. She looked to see Ella as she walked in and smiled. "Did you see mum?" Ella asked. 

Kenzie nodded.  "I did. And we are going to get her help. I know it won't be easy. But I am not loosing my mum. Not like I have probably lost Iain."

Ella looked to her and frowned "You haven't lost Iain. He loves you. But he is being stubborn. You haven't lost him," she said as Kenzie ran her hands through her hair.

She was trying to be strong. But it was hard. "I think I have. He won't see me or talk to me. And we are going to have a baby. I don't know what to do," Kenzie said as Ella sat next to her.

Ella smiled as she pulled her into a hug and smiled a "I know it's hard. I know that you're struggling. But I'm your sister. I'm here. Mum is okay and we're going to get her help. Keep her safe.  Iain..he is stubborn. But you haven't lost him. He's ashamed. And he can't face you. You haven't lost him. I promise," she said as Kenzie felt a tear roll down her face.

Kenzie hoped Ella was right. She didn't know how much more of it all that she could deal with.

It was all getting too much for her.

Kenzie stood outside of Iain's room. She was stood watching him.

The two of them held eye contact as she went to walk off. "Kenz," he said as she turned to face him as she wrapped her arms around herself.

She walked into the room as he reached his hand out to her. She was trying so hard to fight back the tears in her eyes. "It's okay," he said as he pulled her close.

She got onto the bed next to him as she started to cry into his chest. "I'm sorry," he said as she continued to sob.

But could kenzie and Iain find a way through this?
