In This Together *Casualty*

Ch Two

Kenzie sighed as she and Iain walked into work. Iain grabbed her waist and kissed her. Kenzie looked at him and smiled. "Are you sure that you're okay? I know you've been struggling since you went to see your mum," Kenzie said.

Iain sighed. He didn't want to talk about it. How rejected that he felt by his own mother. "It's fine babe. She doesn't matter. It's our baby that matters," he said as he walked off.

Kenzie grabbed his hand and smiled as they held a look. "We're okay Iain. We always are," she said as he nodded.

Iain knew just how much he was struggling and he hated it. He hated how numb that he was feeling and he hated it. He hated how he didn't have the courage to open up about it.

Kenzie sighed to herself as she watched as he walked to the ambulance bay. She placed a hand on her bump and sighed. "Don't worry baby. Daddy is going to be okay," she mumbled feeling scared.

Kenzie walked into the staffroom and sighed as she stood against the wall. Ella walked in with Cal. Ella looked at her older sister and frowned. "Are you okay?" She asked.

Kenzie sighed and shrugged. "I don't know. It's all a mess. I don't know what to do. I don't know how to be there or help Iain. I know that he's been struggling since Sam and I just don't know how to help him. Our baby needs him and I just don't know how I can be there. He's pushing me away," she said.

Ella looked at her and smiled. "I get that you're worried but you need to pull him right back. Iain has been through a lot. But you and that baby are the best thing that ever happened to him. And if he loses you, then he's a complete idiot," she told her.

Kenzie smiled and looked at her. She didn't know what to do to help Iain through. Or if she could help him. Especially when she was due to have his baby in a couple of months time.

Kenzie walked into the ambulance bay and saw Iain. "Are you feeling any better?" She asked.

Iain looked to her and smiled. "I guess so," he said.

Kenzie smiled and looked into his eyes. "I want to help you Iain. But you're pushing me away. And it's hard and I hate it. I love you and I want to be there for you. But I can't if you can't talk to me," she said. She was trying to not cry. "I was thinking we could decorate the nursery. What do you think?" She asked.

Iain smiled and nodded. "Sure," he said as Kenzie smiled.

Kenzie didn't know why, but she felt as if she was the only one trying to make it work. She knew that she loved Iain and that she wasn't going to give up on him. Not when they were having a baby together.

Little did Kenzie know that in the next few days, that everything was going to change. As Iain found it even harder to cope as he prepared to take his own life.
