CHAPTER 3
{Theodore Miller}
"You want the usual?" I ask, looking at the menu.
I don't know why I always look; we have known this place since we were kids and I always order the same thing.
Isabel nods so I call the waiter over.
"The original combo for the both of us," I smile, "please."
He writes it down and walks away, nodding.
"So what university are you going to?" She asks.
I think for a second, "I want to go to Stanford but I'll be super far away from everyone and mom doesn't like the idea of seeing me just on holidays and breaks."
"Oh. Well, you still have a while to decide," she grins.
I nod in agreement, "yeah but senior year starts soon so I'm mostly just stressed about that."
"I get that but you are smart and also I'm sure you'll get soccer scholarships," she points out.
"Maybe. I heard NYU has a good soccer course too," I shrug.
The food arrives and she takes a bite, "yeah and it's closer too."
"Yeah. six hours away from the car," I inform.
"Hmm, well, just go to whatever one you want to, it's your future. Your mom will understand," she reassures.
I smile, "I'm still thinking about it."
"Take your time. It's an important decision," she takes a sip of her drink.
I don't know what I was thinking when I asked her to hang out. I don't want to use her but Isaac is pissing me off more and more lately.
I know it's not her fault but she didn't even think of telling me that he stole my date. She knew I wanted to take Diana.
James keeps telling me to just go for it and I'm considering it but I don't exactly love the thought of her getting hurt for something she didn't do. Or even for something she did.
"Are you excited for your junior year?" I ask, breaking the comfortable silence.
She pouts a bit before answering, "it's the last year I have with you guys."
I smile, "so what? You should enjoy this year. At least you won't have us on your ass all the time."
Isaac is super protective of her and usually goes to any party with her and scares off most guys that talk to her. I scare off the rest.
I'll accept that I am protective of her too but that's because I don't want her to be hurt.
"Yeah, I finally have a boyfriend in senior year," she laughs.
I give her a mocking laugh, "no you will not. I meant you can be more relaxed about all that but that doesn't mean you will get a boyfriend."
"I don't understand why you guys don't let me have a boyfriend," she huffs.
"Boys have cooties," I reason.
She laughs, "I don't mind."
"I do. You are too young to date," I explain.
She tilts her head, "You have been dating since you were like twelve."
"We aren't talking about me, are we?" I smirk.
She rolls her eyes, "I will have a boyfriend if I want."
"You can try. I doubt your brother will be too happy about it," neither will I but I don't mention that.
