CHAPTER 16
{Theodore Miller}
She has been so distant. I hate it.
I blame it on me going away but I have a feeling that's not it.
Her senior prom is in a week and I am currently driving to go see her.
Once I reach home I go straight to her house considering I came here a week ago and I really wanna see her.
I say hi to her mom and then walk to her room. I hear her talking.
"Oh my god! Caleb! CALEB!" she screams.
I hear his voice on the phone. They are on facetime.
"WHAT?" he screams back.
"I GOT FREAKING ACCEPTED," she yells.
Holy shit. To NYU. Fuck yes!
I knock and enter when I hear her.
"Hey baby," I smile.
She smiles back, "hi!"
She is happy. That's good.
I lean down and kiss her. she kisses me back eagerly. Ugh, I missed this.
"Whatcha doing?" I grin.
"I got accepted to Cambridge university!" she grins. My smile drops.
"I thought you were coming to NYU," I hesitate.
Her smile alters and I realize I need to get over it or she will get sad, "I thought you would be happy for me..."
"I am! I really am baby. I was just shocked that's all. I'm happy you got accepted," I assure her, pulling her closer.
She smiles at me, "good."
"So... I'm taking you to prom right?" I beam.
She nods but her face drops.
I lean down and kiss her, "good."
I hear the phone hang up and she pulls away, grabbing it. "He hung up."
I nod, "finally."
She narrows her eyes at me, "what's that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing. You just talk to him a lot," I defend.
"Yeah because he is my friend," she points out.
I sigh, not wanting to argue, "I know. I'm sorry."
She has a look on her face. Guilt. But it soon drops.
She smiles, "it's okay. I just don't want you to think anything wrong."
"I don't, I trust you I promise," I assure.
The rest of the week, I spend with her. I take my last class online, the day before prom.
She has one more week of school after prom but it's unnecessary. It's mostly for memory reasons.
Prom day rolls around and I go to my house to get ready before picking her up.

I hear a knock at my door and I mumble a 'come in' while trying to clasp my necklace.
"Wow- Shit baby, you look gorgeous," my soon-to-be ex gasps.
I turn around and smile at him, "thank you."
