Chapter 2 - Challenged

After finally making their way past all the people in the arcade, the pair walked into the office after being stopped at least fifteen times.

'Him': "That took way longer than it should have."

Roxy: "What do you expect? Everyone loves me, I can't just ignore my fans."

'Him': "Ok then."

Roxy: "You jealous?"

'Him': "No."

Roxy: "I think you're jealous."

'Him': "I couldn't care less about your fans."

Roxy: "You think you're better than me?"

'Him': "I think you're insecure about yourself and care too much."

Roxy growled, turning to walk away while muttering to herself.

Roxy: "I'm not insecure, you ungrateful swine."

'Him': "I don't believe that one bit. Also, thank you for your help."

Roxy: "SHUT UP! I AM THE BEST!"

'Him': "At what exactly?"

Roxy: "Everything, of course!"

'Him': "Literally impossible but ok."

Roxy: "Just because you're a sad little loser. I bet you don't even have any friends."

'Him': "I've always been on my own. It doesn't bother me. You don't seem so fine with it. Otherwise, you wouldn't have said it to me."

Roxy: "You....what?"

'Him': "Do you have any friends yourself?"

Roxy: "Of course I do!"

'Him': "Then why are you being so defensive about it? If you did, you wouldn't be like this."

*silence*

Roxy just stood there, completely stunned that anyone would talk back to her.

Roxy: "I-I..."

'Him': "Hey, you started this. You can't expect me not to challenge you on that. I am sorry if I have upse-"

Roxy: "SHUT THE FUCK UP, YOU ARE NOTHING, I AM THE BEST, I AM BETTER THAN YOU, I AM NOT INSECURE, I AM NOT SOME STUPID LOSER, I AM NOT WORTHLESS, EVERYONE LOVES ME! RIGHT!?"

'Him': "Just becau-"

Roxy: "No, YOU'RE LYING!"

'Him': "OI! Calm yourself and listen. If you don't have any friends, that's fine. I don't think any less of you, no one should. You don't need friends to be cool. Being 'cool' is solely down to you."

Roxy: "R-right... right."

They stood there in silence, staring into space lost in thought.

Intercom: "Please make your way down to the stage. The show will begin in ten minutes."

Roxy: "I... have to go."

'Him': "I may not be watching, but I will hear it, go out there and kick ass."

A grin crept onto Roxy's face.

Roxy: "Don't you worry, I will."

'He' found it very surprising that there was no one in or around the security office. Were there even any staff to occupy the room. Maybe that's why Roxy wasn't worried about anyone finding me.
